i am trying my hardest to bulk, and bulk properly. i weigh myself once every week, so far ive went from 118 to 121, 121 to 122, 122 to 121, 121 to 123, and i just weighed myself tuesday and i'm at 124. ive started to try and add about 300-500 more calories daily now, and im drinking at least 120oz of water, 145ish at the most. the most ive weighed was 140 and that was about 4 and a half years ago, i was pretty chubby and became more active. been around 120-128 ever since. i can see myself getting up to 140, with more muscle and strength, and more to show when i cut. but will i ever be able to get 160..170? is that even possible for a small guy like me?

It is possible to gain that weight....but you need to be patient. It may take you several years of consistent weight training to reach your overall goal.

Also, I would say:

a) stop weighing yourself so frequently. BW fluctuats daily depending on food intake (and types of food), water in take (hydration status) and exercise. Pick a day (say sunday) and weigh yourself on that day at the same time in a totally fasted state (so right when you wake up sunday morning take a trip to the bathroom, hit the head and then hop on the scale...butt naked is best). Record the weight then. But, don't put all your stock in just weight gain.

b) Additionally, record measurements. Again this could be done every week on the day of your weigh in. Pick a few landmarks on your body to weigh....quads (6" above the knee cap), biceps (middle of the humerus), hips (greatest protrusion), abdomen (at the belly button) and record these as well. If measurements are going up, you are doing something right.

c) Don't increase your calories so much (300-500calories) so rapidly (daily).....space it out. Increase 300-500 calories every 2 weeks. Allow your body time to acclimate to higher energy intakes.

Just be patient. Stick to your training and eat right and good things will happen. I don't know how old you are, but to give you some encouragement. When I was 16 I was 5'1" and weighed 130lbs. When I graduated high school I was 5'5" and weighed around 155lbs. Today (age 28) I am 5'5" (yea, still haven;t grown at all) and 188lbs (the heaviest I have ever gotten too was 200lbs).

Stick with it!

Hope that helps.

alright i will definitely start measuring myself, didnt think of that. yea i usually weigh myself every tuesday morning, as soon as i wake up, butt-ass naked.
i'm 20, about 5'6"

yea its been 4 weeks since ive upped my calorie intake, so as of a few days ago i try to get in 300-500 more calories.

thanks p, appreciate the help :]

It'll be hard work but I think you can do it. You have to be really dedicated too, which it seems like you are.

For a little anecdotal feedback, as a freshman in highschool I weighed in the low 120s. As a senior I was around 160. I wrestled in the 160 weight class which I remember having to cut weight for and when the season was over i had SUCH a hard time gaining any weight back (I have some ecto in me). Now, 5 years later, I'm in the upper 180s.
