Has anyone tried any of the BrownSugar Substitutes? Ive heard of SugarTwin and there's this other one(dont remember the name) and the local grocery.(Winn-Dixie just incase anyone has one) and I was wondering how is the taste? i want to try it but not waste my money. let me know. thanx

Somebody mention sugar :)

Sugar

If I recall, Sugar Twin has maltodextrin in it

I don´t go to the recipes section but people cook with maltodextrin and dextrose? :hmmm:

:nope: I can guarantee you won't find any recipes here with dextrose and maltodextrin in it. Those would only be good choices during a refeed and nothing more.

What would be the best sugar sub to use on a daily basis?

Sara,
I think Xylitol is your best choice.
It is safe, has low glycemic index, and tastes and mixes like sugar. It is even very beneficial, for teeth, bones, and the stomach. There is a book called The Sweet Miracle of Xylitol , that explains it all. I thought it was a great read.
Try it out.

Stevia is the best IMO.

Xylitol

I agree stevia is great as well.
Stevia and Xylitol are good choices.

The flavors are different though. Some people don't like the stevia for everything.
I have heard that stevia has some beneficial properties as well!
Either would be better than the detrimental effects of sugar on the body.
I would definitely stay away from all the popular chemical sugar substitutes on the market. :barf:
I really think they are harmful to the body.

Stay natural.

What about Splenda? or the Equal Brand ?

I've read that they cause cancer, headaches, digestive problems..etc (can't remember the whole list).
As far as digestve problems... I can feel it right away if I have either one (or anything that contains them).

1-2 small packets of splenda a day is not going to harm me.. is it?

I don't know  It would hurt me for sure lol but there are many people who eat that stuff and are totally fine with it.
