If a dried fruit product carbohydrate content lists sugars but there aren't any specified in the ingredient list should one assume these are "good sugars" that are normally associated with consuming fruit, such as fructose?

Thanks

Unless the ingredients list that sugar has been added then the sugars in the dried fruit will be that from the fruit itself.

If you are interested, look around at www.nutritiondata.com and you can sometimes get the glucose/fructose/sucrose content of each fruit.

eg:
figs
peaches
Prunes
Apricots

ps: Just watch out for your quantities when dealing with dried fruits. As they have been dehydrated they are extremely rich sources of calories, and 99% of it is sugar too. This means you miss out on some of the good things associated with fruit (less water, less satiety effect, some of the anti-oxidants and other vitamins and minerals are also damaged and you also get the sulfur if you eat sulfur treated types too).

You need to exercise EXTREME portion control (esp if you are like me and can scoff down 2 pounds of dried figs in one sitting! :chomp:  )!

Thanks, what I thought but I wanted to double check
