the other day at the gym a guy came up to me while I was doing T-bar rows and told me not to do them with just my hands on the bar (I use what looks like a baseball grip). he said it puts your back in an awkward position because of the non-symmetrical grip, and he told me to use the V-grip.

however, I find I can lift more weight using the baseball grip. I was just wondering if what he was saying has any truth to it, or if I can stick to the baseball grip?

Was what he was saying true? Did your back feel uncomfortable? Was your lower back rounded?

Its true that an alternate grip (like a mixed dead grip for example) can put a different stress on the muscles.

The way to combat this is simply switching which hand is where with each set.

it didn't feel uncomfortable for me. I think I'll stick to it, and do as you said, alternate hands.

I can see what he means, one arm will be in front of the other, but its nothing to worry about if your back is fine and you switch the grips.

Ya know what, tell that asshole to give advice when asked.
