So in a couple of threads i have read about taking a week break every 3mths or so..... (been training near 12mths now)
I'm thinkin no way i need every workout i can get.... Must build muscle etc.
So my recent calf injury forced me to have a week off and i go back to the gym and.... Holy crap!! Full recovery is good shit :thumb:
I feel like my muscles have just been given the biggest shock treatment of their lives.
From now on, a week off every 3mths no doubt!! :thumb:

If you havent had a break in a while take a good one over Chrissy and dont feel guilty cause it will be doing you the world of good

:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: 9-10 weeks, and then a week off. and its the longest frickin week ever:mad:

I guess it's an individual thing, but personally I don't think I need a whole week off. If you get enough rest, change your routine regularly and don't overtrain, I don't think it's nessicary.

Peetrips: I was wondering about your signature... Why is it that you only have Australia, USA and Canada on there? How about UN, NATO etc. ?

I agree. I took a week off a couple of weeks ago after probably 4 solid months of non-stop training. Like Tank said, it was the longest week I've ever had, and I spent the whole time feeling guilty about not hitting the weights.

When I came back the next week all my lifts went up and I felt great. It was incredible. But again, I don't think I'll take another week off for at least another 4 or 5 months.

When you then hit the weights again after the week is over, do you start out with heavy weights too?

I did, and when it seemed too light, I bumped up the weight. Starting at the same place should be no big deal, it's not like you're taking a year off, just a week.

When I feel like I'm getting tired, and I don't have any scheduled breaks coming (vacation/holidays) I find cutting my workouts back so that I'm done in 30 min or less for 3 times a week for 2 weeks, seems to work great for helping me recover.

Every time I've taken a week or two off, I find it takes me two weeks to get back to where I was before the break.

Wow, no kidding? I guess I must've been lucky last time. Now I'm REALLY scared to take any more breaks! Maybe when it's gets time to cut???

Its probably just me Brad, I find the worst is probably squats, If I don't keep doing them, the weight I can do drops after 2 weeks or so of not doing them.

That would pretty much suck. After all the work I've done to get my squat numbers up I think I'd cry if they dropped!!!
