Can someone please explain "in English" what an isolation exercise is and what a compound exercise is? I am reading one of the articles Prince posted and it explained supersets (yay! I didn't understand them) but I don't know what an isolatioin or compound exercise is.

Isolation exercise is simply an exercise that is designed to hit one single muscle with maximum intensity and focus ??? like a bicep concentration curl

A compound exercise is an exercise that simultaneously hits a group of muscles to produce maximum stimulus and stress for the purpose of generating a large collective adaptive response. Example ??? Squats, Bench Press, Dead Lifts. These exercises all require supporting secondary and tertiary etc. muscles to assist at various points in the motion.

a compound exercise uses many muscles like a squat an isolation exercise is something like a leg extension  that wasnt so hard to explain :D

a superset is when two exercises are done back to back (usually the opposite muscle groups e.g. bicep curl and tricep pulldown)
a compound set is when two exercises are done back to back (usually the same muscles are worked e.g. squats and leg extensions)
