The "Bowflex Revolution"

I understand most serious weight trainers dismiss traditional bowflex machines, or maybe all of them, as at least overpriced and at most useless. That's fine. This particular machine seems to be new. At least I had never seen it before and couldn't find any mention of it in the existing bowflex threads here.

I was just browsing around and looking at their site and can't seem to find a price even. Did request an information kit but that'll take awhile to arrive.

Anyone have experience with this machine, which uses a different type of technology than your standard bowflex which has already been reviewed to death?

Any links to other reviews would be great too.. And I'm sure the price is amazingly high since they make it so hard to find on the official site

Just click the order now button and you get the price. It's $2500. You can also pay something like $40 a month. For that kind of money, I would either get a gym membership, or I would put together an awesome setup for half that.

What can i acheive with the Bowflex that i cant accomplish with that kit?

Well.. at $2,500 it is certainly expensive. If you have seen the commercial though, the design is at least innovative and interesting. You will never catch me buying one of these, maybe for 1/4th the price.

Anyone have comments about how well it might work. Just out of curiosity, they seem to have smoothed out the reps a little bit. At least they're advertising it that way, sort of recognizing the akwardness of their other models with actual bows.

Call me conservative, but I don't believe in any of that wonderstuff. If you're just using cables, you're missing out. Period. Even if the machine would in fact be beneficial, I don't see any reason as to why it would be more beneficial than standard weightlifting.

I suppose convenience is the only element these types of gadgets can add to anyones workout routine. I guess we have yet to see that convenience made to the extent of being worth the price tag or potential diminished training results. Maybe someday they will get it right...

Blow Flex is a gimmick. Made for people who are too lazy to exercise. These people assume that if they spend 2K on a "revolutionary machine", working out won't be as hard, cuz Blow Flex is gonna do half the job for them.

I think its focused more torwards older people in their 40's and older (no offense to those 40 and older)......but its kinda more torwards people who have no experience lifting any weight.

to solidify Double D's statement, the bowflex is prolly for those who have no experience, i mean to a complete newbie a flash new machine looks a lot better than our average barbell and co.

Do you really think the gains are all because of the BowFlex? Resistance is resistance. Why are you paying $2500 for it when you could purchase it for a fraction of the price?

I would't pay $2500 for a bowflex, thats crazy. I payed $700 for the sport. I do follow a strict diet and maintain lifting and eating correctly but there is just something about that machine that I feel is working great for me. Only bad thing about it is the weights only go up to 410 pounds.

Great machine

My wife and I have been in the gym for years, but when we had a baby and my practice got busier, it was hard to find time to get to the gym. I recently purchased the Bowflex Revolution and it is one of the best workout machines I have ever been on. In the past I made fun of these machines saying they were no substitute for the gym, but once I started using it I was blown away. It is rather expensive, but it's never too expensive when it comes to your health.

Bowflex is better than nothing, but that's not saying much.

Its not for everyone, but its a good niche product. While I've not used a bowflex I did use a similar product (used flexible rods) and I was very happy with it for what it was. Certainly the gym has better equip, but its nice to have at home.

Benefits include:
-Safety. My bro's wife took too much weight off one side of an olympic bar causing it to flip up at her face/head. A week later he went the bowflex route just because of his concern for her working with free weights. I should mention he enjoys using it and doesn't regret getting the olympic bar/weights out of his house
-Its relatively light weight. Not everyone feels good about using weights in their homes. Not that I think it'd fall through the floor, but I'd hate to drop even a 25lb weight in my home.
