I reasd all the flak I received on my last post about tricep training. I still am sticking to my guns. About 9 years ago I was having allot of probelms with my right elbow. It was makign weird cracking noises. I stopped doing any extensions and just did weighted dips and close grip benches. Then one day my elbow popped and I had to have surgery on my elbow to reattache the tricep tendon. It took me along time to recover. After a year of goofing around I finaly got back to close grip benches and pully pushdowns. I noticed that I didnt have that old horeshoe flare and full look to me triceps. After another couple of years I started doing overhead tricep extensions with an E-Z bar and light wieght lyng ext with an e-z bar. In a matter of six months my triceps looked at least 25 percent fuller. I have spoke to other liftes and most of them agree that thes two movements must be on your routine. I firmly believe the close grip bench is a movemtn that works more front delt than anything. I believe the reason that most people have elbow probelms is poor warm ups and and poor attention to stretching and form. Look at Gustavo, his main tricep exrecise is incline tricep ext, Troy Alves favorite if lying tricep ext, both known for their excellent triceps.

Keep doing them. If you end up with surgery on the other elbow, great.

Weighted dips and overhead tricep extensions are my preference--I also don't believe in the effectiveness of CGBP.

I agree MWpro, I love my overhead presses and I think weighted dips are a good movement also. The way I get around trying to go to heavy on overhead triceps is I have the bar setting in front of me on the floor. I have to clean it, then press it overhead before I start my extensions. THis technique prevents my from getting too stupid with the amount of wieght. I love the old style dip bars but love to put my palms on the flat part of the square tubes. I hate the round tubes, too easy to slip. I always wrap my wrists before I dip. I love the big 45s on the dipping belt they dont sway as much. The dumbell idea is goofy. Keep up the good work.
