I've been on an exercise program for the past two months and have been eating right for the past year. Anyways, my trainer had me take the Treadmill Fitness Test and I flunked horribly. However, I did not know that I would be that bad. For those who haven't taken the test, I was forced to walk at 3.4 MPH for 12 minutes at a higher incline each minute. After the test was over, I did not feel fatigue or short of breath, but I was told that I flunked. I'm confused. Any suggestions?

A good trainer would tell you why you failed, and how to be better next time.

seriously.

on a treadmill test, you should have gone until you were totally maxed out and unable to continue. that is when the test ends.

He didn't give you a VO2 Max number? You don't really fail a test like that, you just suck out at it.

It has actually become fairly common to not give out a VO2 max number in the last few years.

WHy the fuck would you do that? Seems like there is no point in giving the test.

Trainer: Test done.
Client: How did I do?
Trainer: Bad.
Client: Thanks.

Yeah, I thought the point of a treadmill test was to derive a theoretical VO2 max or a submaximal VO2 uptake and compare it relative to the norm for that person's age group and sex. This lets you know what to focus on when someone suggests they want general health improvements...

I agree, but it is often the case that this number is not given out. Don't know why.

DoO I even need to ask who that is in your avatar?
