I have been training somewhat seriously for over 15yrs...

I cannot find a way to get wirey strength + heavyduty endurance into the fold.

Maybe you just have to be a freakazoid like Lance armstrong?

Anyone having the trouble of balancing Body Weight VS specific Power?
(Besides me)

I posted VIDs in my journal of the top climbers using what seems to me
to be "superhuman" hand and upper body strength.

If I even attempt to "TRAIN" for something at this level,
I end up with tendonitis, and a myriad of other common pains.

Is it age? How come I see gnarly 60year ols kicking my ass at the crag,
with less training?

Weight VS Elevation is a bitch...
Strength VS Weight is a bitch....

Watch this...

This Kid "IS" the Lance Armstrong of climbing...

(and he's about the same bodyweight) (probally less)

BUT... Watch the hand and grip strength and how he applies it.
(Now.. What you don't see is the foot, toe and core strength, and stamina, that it takes to get to those specific hand strength positions)

Yeah unfortunately we are all beautiful and unique snowflakes. Our macro anatomy is pretty much the same, we each have a spine, pelvis etc. But the specifics can be pretty variable. I just read something about radiologic classification of shoulder's, they identified about 4 variations of the acromion process in a couple of hundred people. Some are flat, others are pointy others are knobby etc. My honest opinion is that much of what we are capable of is predetermined in the womb. With exceptions, I believe if you have the lever lengths to produce tons of speed you'll be a fast mofo and probably be great at sports. If Micheal Phelps never trained to be a swimmer he'd still be a super fast swimmer...just maybe in his state or country or whatever instead of the world. No matter what I do, I would probably never have an accurate arm or be a good catcher, I have refractory amblyopia and have terrible vision in my left eye. This affects my depth perception very negatively. I never quiet understood why I was never that good in basketball, I'm not terribly unathletic, fairly big, medium speed-wise, could jump pretty high, I played pretty regularly but I always was at the low-middle end of the spectrum in gym class. I was a bit better in football but I had not such good hands and am/was a shitty QB (I'm talking street football, not whole team football with linemen and such). I also suck at benchpress. I have terrible shoulders. I got tendonitis withing a year or two of training. It still flairs up every so often. If I get just a little sloppy on bench and flair out a bit, my shoulder will ache for a day or two. Squats and lower body stuff, I can just look at 300 lbs for a few weeks and get 10lbs stronger. I love leg training and think that real men are made in the power rack so I'd never do it, but I swear I could probably do 1 challenging set of heavy squats per week and get stronger and maintain the size of my thighs.

Genetics are a bitch, but we each do what we can. I've stopped competing against others a while ago. I compete against myself. Hell I wanted to go and do an amateur strongman show, it would just be fun to get out and meet other people like you and talk some shit and pick some heavy shit up. Winning or losing wouldn't make much of a difference to me honestly, I'd just be happy if I could clean and press a 200+lb log or load a 300lb stone (I don't even know if I'd be able too, I've never even tried training with that stuff). So thank your genetics next time that old geezer in Depends is above you taking his blood pressure lol.

The comforting thing about being back in the GYM, as I have moderately been in the last 4weeks, is that YES I can intake protein at the right times...
Heck, even consume product that will make me kick ass at the time of the WO.

I have found comfort in that...
But this new shit... Being in the outdoors?
I have to ration how much I take in during each day, and sometimes wonder if the weather is going to let me even attempt to reach that goal.

Yes the more efficient body always wins in the outdoors, in the wild.
Plus there's the whole mind game BEYOND the actual goal.

... "I'm cold, i'm hungry, ive been walking for days, There is a bee's nest somewhere close because those suckers keeps buzzing while i'm trying to
place protection or find hand holds"...

How the Fugg do we get down after we get up.
Ice, and snow storms can kill us...

Yet we train, and we go!

Here's me on Rainier:
20 Japanese climbers got turned back that day,
and we had to offer them shelter and food because some of them
had overeached thier provisions, and tryed to summit an extra day
on the mountain without water and food.

To train for this...
I dropped from 210 to 179Lbs.

I ran and hiked the local hills over 9miles and 1200ft per day, and it still didn't prepare my quads for the hell, they were about receive.

Not to mention the diet thing, and the knowledge that every tired step could
wind you and your three partners
into the bottom of a 2000ft crevass.

Workout stress? Nah.

Yet we live and go on...

Everest guys would call my big-bulky
500Lb squatting ass a pussy!

(not that I can squat 500 anymore)

But even if you do, would you hang with any of these guys? In what they do?

I have tasted the air outside the gym,
and it is good!

Yeah well if a 300lb rock fell on his leg and his skinny little, relatively strong mofo's couldn't budge it, he'd be more than happy to have you there to lift that shit and save his life. I remember one time when I was spotting Patrick on a set of heavy DB OHP's and he was kinda grunting. This PL'er dude George started snickering and after the set Pat was like, Oh yeah! Take of your shirt George! So George goes, what you think I wouldn't be able to throw those godamn dumbells through the ceiling with my shirt off. It was classic.

Nevertheless that stuff is really fucking awesome. I'm a city kid, I go Upstate or camping like once a year if that. I'm going to the Poconos in a couple of weeks and will go on the hiking trails for the first time, like.....ever. My parents have a house though lol, so it won't even be real outdoors stuff. The closest I could get to the outdoors mountain climbing/hiking adventure stuff on a regular basis would probably be free running/La Parkour or like base jumping or something. The former will get you killed/terribly hurt (especially a big, fat fuck like myself) and the latter gets you arrested.

as yanick said, genetics my friend, genetics.. yeah it sucks for some people that have those bad genetics..
I don't know my genetics yet, but for the most part i think i have pretty good ones considering my maxes always shoot up from barely working out

YEAAH!...

In my mixed up world thru the years, I have always kept in good enough
shape that my GF's have ABs to kiss.

Most of the serious ab-work has come from martial arts training
or boxing...

And YES! If something shitty were to ever happen
I have ALWAYS had the strength to put a friend on my back.
and make it out of a hole or off of a mountain.

It would take every thing I have, but thats about being the man.

This "sure" is a bit of a whine session,
but at the same time...
A strong guy is the prince (no pun intended)

Yeah, but could they hang with you in the gym? I couldn't hang with the climbing guys at my gym (we have a wall) on the wall, but they sure as shit can't lift close to what I can, makes sense...we're training for the different goals.
