I have always pinned my quads or hip but I believe rotating is necessary. How do I pin my delt, front delt? Using 25g 1-5/8" needle like I usually do. I assume I pin with muscle relaxed. This will be virgin muscle so I expect a little more pip than usual...Thanks in advance.... :shooter:

I use 25g 5/8" medial delt, depends on how big your delts are now but 1" is as far as I go. IMO its better if you have some help with this one its a bitch to aspirate on your own...

You dont have to aspirate. I dont think nurses even do it anymore.

Ok, both are negged... J/K.. For me front delt prob the best spot. I will use my regular needle but go in 1". I can see where aspirating would be a bit hard w/o moving the needle all over the place..I will let you guys no how it goes, just being a scared little baby with the delt pin....

Delts are my favorite place.

Kind of sounds like your talking about separating ass? or maybe my dyslexia........ :shooter:

yes we do still aspirate for oil based inj.
Since the goal of aspirating is to avoid injecting into a blood vessel, what does it matter if it's oil based or water based? Moe is right. A simple Google search shows most medical professionals do not recommend aspirating for IM injections.

As opposed to IV oil based?

Im a paramedic and I never aspirate. No point

I started a thread that might make it to 2 pages...Lets keep this aspirating topic going...I am going to be honest and say I always aspirate, just to be safe.

I use 25 5/8 side delt. I've done front delta ad it was very uncomfortable. I find if I relax the arm on the side your pinning lean on the counter to stay stable, I insert the pin at a steady pace. I always aspirated and do t see any reason not to. I use my pointer finger on the plunger and again inject steadily. I try and rest the arm I'm holding the syringe with against my chest so I do t stir the pin around. It's my fave spot to pin.

I just pinned didnt aspirate and got an embolism. Do i call 911 or just go straight to the e.r.?

Pin one more time aspirate twice and you should be fine...Really....

Medial and front delts are my favs. I use 23g 1". I always aspirate... because I love bubbles.

If you get a slin pin and inject HGH directly into the vein, preferably the one in your neck then you'll be just fine. The water based HGH will counteract the oil bubble. It's an ancient BB trick, Arnold used to do that and he's still alive so it must work...

This is exactly what I just did, and I have to say not bad.. Not as painful as I thought, I did get some blood but other then that so far so good.......

The only oil/fats given IV that I'm aware of require a filter to be added to the tubing to prevent a fat embolism.

I could be wrong...and things do change. I'm just repeating what has been drilled into my head from school and the organizations I have worked for. But like I said thinks change all the time.
