I'm 25 years old and fairly new to lifting weights. I'm taking Creatine and No2 Hemodilator. I just developed an umbilical hernia last week. I can still lift weights, but everytime something pops out of the hole (some kind of fat I believe) and I have to push it back. I scheduled surgery for the summer, hoping I can realise the full benefits of the supplements before having to take 4 weeks off from any kind of lifting. What are your thoughts on this?:finger:

wow, thats gross.

i hope youre training at home, cuz id hate to be next to you when that crap comes out of your "hole"

:barf:

I just finished the loading phase of Creatine and don't want to lose the momentum I've established. Plus I need to schedule time off of work. I know I can't lift for four weeks after surgery, and I'm just not ready to give it up yet.

Thanks for your sensitivity. However, I don't know what kind of people you train with, but I don't think I would get close enough to another lifter to show them what is coming out my "hole".

yeah, i guess... i just remember someone posted a picture of some guy with a hernia, and like half his intestine was falling out (this was while he was in the middle of a squat).

nasty

whats a hernia?

Your doctor is ok with you still lifting?

Personally, I'd stick to arms and shoulders and I'd be wearing a belt from the moment I walked into the gym.

Not surprised about the wait to get it fixed, up in Canada, we'd be guaranteed a 6 month wait on something like that.

Yeah, my doctor says the larger the hole, the better the surgery! I've cut out Squats, but I still do everything normal. The concern I have with a lifting belt is it generally supports the back and oblique muscles, but stresses the abs more.

thats not fat coming out of the hole, its your intestine!

Intestine comes out of inguinal hernia's. It's subcutaneous fat being pushed out the hole by a sheet of perinuem. It's not too dangerous until it cannot be pushed back in, or the perinuem breaks.

oh, i did not know that. i had a hernia 3 years ago. recuperation isnt too fun.

I had a hernia 5 years ago, the inguinal one. No, recovery is not very fun, that's why I'm postponing and training for as long as I can. How are you doing with the repaired hernia? :thumb:
