hello. i guess you could say i'm new. i haven't posted in over a year, but i used to be a regular before i moved to california. now i've moved back home to cold wisconsin. i'm going to start training for a marathon the last week in february. i know i'm going to lose some muscle and it's not the healthiest sport, but it's a life goal. something i want to do once. i already have the training split, my friend has ran 2 so far. i'm just wondering about my protein and carb intake. a very informative friend said to up my protein, but how much? do i want to up my carbs too? i'm just so excited to have a goal. i tend to eat like what i wrote below, but i add a few things here and there. i'm not in the best shape i could be better. :blah: :blah: training for this marathon will put me back on track! :thumb:
my typical day: m1: 5 egg whites, 1 yolk and 1/2 cup of oatmeal
m2: carb smart yogurt and 1/2 apple
m3: tuna w/pita or turkey burger salad w/ 1/2 cup br.rice
m4: cottage cheese or protein shake
m5: chicken or lean red meat, veggies and salad
m6: not all the time, but usually protein shake and veggies

First you have to give us an update. Why are you moving back home?? How are you??

Welcome back!

you run a hard bargain! :pissed: J/K well i posted in another thread why i moved home. (short version) I came back to get refocused and finish school. it was an all-out party every day of the week in cali. loved it but lost track of school and eating and exercising! I need a goal in order to get back on track. A very close friend of mine is running the Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, MN for the 3rd time, 3rd week in June, and I'm going to train with her. I gained about 5#, and lost a lot of muscle. my fat% went up to like 22/23. so other than totally hating my body right now, i'm great. i start school next week!!! yeah. my major is kinesiology. great to be back! :D

I do a lot of running in the spring and summer, although I continue to lift as well. Whenever I am running 15-20+ miles a week, my carb intake is definatly higher (especially with frosty beers :p ) But honestly, my carb intake doubles when I run alot.

Go to a runners website for more expert info

How many calories per day is that, and what is the macro division like? Also, you definitely need some more EFAs in there.
