Is it better to train a single bodypart a day or would i get better results combining a large muscle group with a smaller one e.g chest and biceps in the same training session.I am currently traing one part a day but sometimes i feel it is not enough. My program is below

mon:Shoulders
tues:Biceps,legs
wed:Back
thurs:Triceps,legs
fri:Chest
sat:rest
sun:rest

I'm a firm believer in traing the major and minor groups on the same day and i know alot of people including trainers that agree .

Back and Bicep

Chest and tricep

Shoulder ( on it's own )

Legs ( on it's own )

That's not to say your method does not work for you . But with this style you train both muscle groups that work with each other . Give it a shot .

TRAINING ONE BODYPART A DAY

Thanks for advice.Would it be better to train:

Chest with biceps and Back with triceps

That means when you start training the smaller bodypart it will still be fresh.

I do see one problem. You're training triceps the day before you train chest. You need fresh arms to bench. If you hit the triceps hard on Thursday, Friday's chest workout will suffer.

Also, why are legs done twice and other parts only once?

I would suggest training the similar muscle groups the same day seeing as you are already working both groups . That's more bang for your training time . Give it a try , it worked well for me and i'm sure lots of others would agree .
The problem i see with training chest with bicep is when back day comes around your bis will be shot , ruining the good results you could get . And the same goes for tris , when chest day rolls around you won't be fresh to get maximum pump .

Thanks for advice.I will change my program and see if i notice any improvements.I train legs twice a week because they are my weakest part.I hate training legs and used to avoid it as much as possible.I have now decided to make an extra effort to train my legs as hard as possible to get them to the same standard as my upper body.

Legs are alot of our troubles . But it's good you do that . Symetry is hard to achieve when all you do is upper body . I've seen these guys all over the place . Big chest and arms but no legs to carry themselves .

I think that routine is fine, but I would reverse the order. Do back one day then biceps the next, and the same with chest and triceps. That way when you're working the large muscle group your arms are not sore.

you know i used to do back and biceps at the same day and i used to do it very heavy and my right hand began to shake even when i wasnt lifting and someone told me never to do back and biceps at the same day cause when you do back you also exercise the biceps. now i do chest and biceps and back and triceps

I agree with captaindeadlift. Your bench day and your back day are both going to suffer because you are using your biceps and triceps and fatiguing them the day before you are using your larger muscle groups.

Holly, everyones got a different opinion here!!!

Well here's another for you to ponder over:

Mon:Chest/tri's/shoulers
Tues:Legs heavy lower reps
Thur:Back/Bi's
Fri:Legs light higher reps

I like doing Back/bi's and Chest/tri's because its a more efficent workout but it'll work the other way as well.
