I was just wondering if anyone had a 2-4 weeks triceps workout schedule they would like to give. I have so much trouble figuring out what excercies work what part of the Tri so if i had a several workouts i could use it would help me out alot.

Thanks

Here's a some tri exercises.

Close grip bench press, pushdowns, skull crushers, overhead extentions, kick backs, reverse grip bench, dips

Here's what I use: close grip bench, weighted dips, pushdowns.

Fade99's workout is perfect. You could also do prone french presses (skulls) + weighted bench dips + pushdowns. do a super set using those or even a tri-set. I do my tri's after my chest and shoulder work so they're pretty much half fried to begin with.

well, cable press downs, skulls, reverse press down.

I'd stick to the heavy pressing moves. Dips and CG press are great choices IMO.

Pressdowns

I see people doing these all the time, and want to try it, but I don't know which order to do it in, and why? If I did pushdowns, what should I give up in my normal tricep routine? I currently do weighted bench dips (feet on another bench), single-arm overhead extension, reverse grip pushdown, and kickbacks. I usually switch it up, but that's my normal workout to an extent. Also, with pressdowns, what is the major part of the tricep that it works?

One more question: What the h*ll is the difference in pressdown grips, such as rope, ezbar, overhead rope extension (with cable achine), etc. Should I be doing cable overhead extensions???

Thanks :)

I stick to heavy pressing movements i.e. Close grip bench press, scull crushers and dips !!!

claudette...id do either kick backs or reverse press's....theyre both a good finisher movement. pick jus 1.

as for different grips for press downs....if ya use a single grip, it isolates well each arm. i do these alot...the reverse Y grip...works both with a comfortable angle....great grip too!... the straight bar is harder as it dosent have a natural angle, so you stress yer wrists abit, but that strengthens them too. rope, its harder also, its not solid/fixed..so ya cant heave on it like the others...you can also twist, flex abit more when doin the movement... they all pretty well hit the tri the same...dont believe in spot training the tri with any of these grips....try to not get over or use shldr to press down.

I see quite a number of recomendations for "skull crushers". Could anyone please describe this exercise, because I can't find it in www.exrx.com. Thanks.

Yeah I like these: close grip barbell, overhead extensions, cable pulldowns, and skull crushers

The Jamaicans I used to work with had huge tri's, I asked them what they did and they all said diamond push-ups, when you form a diamond with your hands close together, thumbs touching and index fingers touching. Go to failure 6x a day. :rocker:

That's what armies have been using for hundreds of years as well...obviously they work.

cable pulldowns

I was beginning to think I was the only one who did these. I sometimes do them at the end of my tricep workout just to finish off the triceps. I like the one-arm variety myself.

I love them to IAB, I use an underhand grip doing them.

cable pulls are the best!...i prefer them to anything else. single grip is my fav, but i got to the bar once and awhile too....it even gets yer abs:D

Me too IAB cable pulldowns are always a part of my tricep routine. I just do different variations to mix things up.
