Uh-oh...

Okay, I'm going to play nice.

Your goal is not realistic. This shows that you really don't know enough about weight training yet. But that's okay, most, if not all, of us go through this phase.

You need to develop the basic foundation of weight training knowledge. Fro which you've come to the right site! :thumb:

Start by reading the stickies.

DOMS was nice.

How can you seriously say I want to put on 50 lbs of muscle in 3-6 months?

Muscle just magically appears out of no where?

50lbs of muscle in 3-6months is asking for too much. Aim for 5-10 lbs of bw gain in 6 months. With proper training and diet you should be able to gain muscle and keep fat gains to a min.

i was browsing through a magazine like 3 months ago and if i remember right i think it said "most pros typically only gain 3-5 lbs of lean muscle each year"

not sure if thats accurate, but yea.

That seems about right.

That seems about right.

dang didnt know that lol. i see people gain 100 lbs in a year of fat weight thought u could atleast put on 20 lbs of muscle but thanks guys. ill read the stickies any extra insight is appreciated

Two more tips:

1. Design (or pick one) a workout from the stickies. Post it in the Training forum for review.

2. Start a journal in the Online Journals. Nothing has benefited me as much as that has. If you make your journal reader friendly, people will stop by and add input that will help you improve your workouts even more.

That sounds a bit on the low side to me. I'm pretty sure I've put on more than that in the last year, but it's been nowhere near 50 lbs.

the thing is pro's are at such a peak, that its hard o gain mass. thats why its only a few lbs a year. if you ran a bunch of anabolics, and were somewhat new, you could put on a good 20lbs+ IMO

You're a professional bodybuilder?

No, and I don't think the person who put that in a magazine was either.

And I dought the person who made this thread is either...

i just want helpful tips keep the spam and arguments elsewere please thanks

3-5lbs a year? thouse prose probly dont go above 10% body fat then.

eh, i found it pretty crazy myself, but i figured it had to be true or they wouldnt have said it. and i think it was in a Mens Fitness magazine, a guy was replying to someones question and mentioned that little fact. premier is probably right though.

nice beard, premier.

What spam? And those "arguments" are called a discussion.

That was pretty much my thoughts about it... exactly.

50lbs of muscle in a few years would be nice.

If it's your first year of training, you're dedicated, you play it smart and you're not cursed with crappy genes, you can gain a lot of muscle. I went from 143lbs @ ~8% to 185 @ ~12% in a year. You can see pics on page 7 IIRC in my journal.

Then I got Pfeiffer and lost 20lbs, but that's a different story. :p

i bet if u ran hella 'roids and ate like a fukn horse u could put on 50 in 6 months, but im not encouraging that at all..

50lbs in 3-6 months. Damn wouldn't that be nice....

You know it seems like it would be so perfect but if you could just get the body of your dreams in like 6-8 months then you'd have nothing to really look forward to. Sounds odd but i like the struggle.

my first year of training, when i was 17, i put on about 35lbs. that was going from never training in my life to training 4 times a week, eating every thing in sight, and proper staple supplements. body weight went from 150 to about 185.

Beginning gains are good, once you get past a certain size, it's hard without steroids. As a beginner, he shouldn't have trouble getting 20 lbs in 6 months. I trained two guys in Atlanta who both got more than that, and they just took creatine, ate right, rested a lot, and took some protein when necessary. It's not easy, but it can be done. I don't know how long that can be continued, my experience is that once you get past a certain size it's almost impossible to get bigger without anabolics. By that point you're so big though... why the hell would you want to be bigger?

Nov'06 I was 194lb and chubby lookin'.
By Mar'07 I'd cut down to 161lb and found my abs.
I'm now 184lb and only slightly higher bf than in March.

From my experience, 20lb gains are possible in the first six mo, but 50lb is gonna take a while!
