Just wondering how you would rate tuna steak as a source of protein? I have heard that tuna is high in fat but still, I'm assuming overall it is a good source. I know it is expensive, the reason i am asking is because I am planning on making a nice dinner soon for some people and Tuna steak is nicer than just some kind of chicken. What do you all think?

A Tuna steak cut from the belly meat is very high in fat. Loin cut steaks are lean. Stay away from any fish meat with blood line intact especially Tuna where the highest concentrations of mercury are located.

The tuna steak I would be purchasing is from the Whole Foods market (I know... expensive) and it is said to be Sushi Grade. So do you think it is pretty safe?

For ONE MEAL?

Of course it is! Enjoy. :)

I think the sushi grade stuff is the higher fat content, but like Built says if you don't eat it often you're fine. I prefer the leaner stuff because I eat it at least once a week.
Loin meats are darker pink. Higher the fat the lighter pink to marbled color.

I love tuna. I like the raw stuff - I eat it whenever I go out for sushi, which I admit isn't often.

Not a fan of toro. I just like the regular, run of the mill akami maguro.

I learned how to make sushi myself a few months ago. It has been great. I don't make it too often since I have just been too lazy to calculate the macros and I assume it is probably a little high in carbs and just calories in general. But every once in a while I will make it. It is a great skill to have for dates, it is fun, hands on, and impressive to a lot of people.
