This is my first post, I guess this is the right place for this kind of question.

I just started working out at a new gym and I'm sick and tired of having to listen to the radio station they have playing over the stereo system. I want to wear my CD walkman (with headphones of course) while I train. The only way I can do this is to have one of those pouches you put around your waist, and put my walkman in there (my CD walkman doesn't have a clip).

Does anyone else do this? Does anyone else bring their walkman to listen to while they train? I just think that having this pouch around my waist will be a nuisance for me. Plus I don't want to look like a dork, carrying around all this stuff!

Any suggestions? I'm tired of listening to Today's Top 40.

Thanks.

As far as looking like a dork...don't give a shit what others' think! Yes, it can be a nuisance to wear the pouch, but you will get used to it, and have much better workouts listening to your own music!

i have a walkman on all the time, even when i'm the raquetball court by myself practicing shots.you cant beat ac/dc during a good bicep w/o either.pay no attention to others, the gym is your time.:thumb: :D

I wear a walkman every now and then, but I have one of those kind that you can strap to your arm. I run the cord under my shirt so it does not get in the way.

And like gopro said, who cares what anyone else thinks? You're working out for YOU, not them.

Thanks for the replies.

It's not that I care what other people think, it's how I think I'm going to look. Whatever, it doesn't matter, I'll do it, I just wanted to get feedback from others to see what how you wear your walkmans.

Also, is there a pouch specifically for CD walkmans, that go around the waist? Or would I have to buy one of those regular pouches?

Thanks!

yes there pouches for cd's,where to find them, i couldnt tell ya but i seen a young lady using one this morning..:thumb:

The pouch you are talking about you can get at Best Buy for about 17 bucks. I got one this weekend and this morning was the first workout i had listining to my own music.

I listened to Limp Bizket, but i like all types of hard rock/rap for working out. I really couldent believe the way it seemed to help my workout. I would zone out on the bike and then realize that i was peadling to the beat of the song (fast). I also liked it for my weight routine just because it kept me pumped up. I felt strong.

As far as looking like a dork, i could care less. I aint there to impress anyone, i'm there to work out. Hell i get there in the mornings after rolling out of bed. Depending on how long its been sense a hair cut i dont even bother combing it. I usually have short hair.

LOL. I know what you mean, I don't bother combing my hair either (I work out first thing in the morning too).

I just picked up the walkman pouch and it's really cool. It looks fine on me and the belt is nice and comfy, stretchable and all that. I'm gonna use it first thing tomorrow, hopefully my music will pump me up as did yours!

Don't worry about what other people think...looking like a dork, that is....you're in the gym, aren't ya?

I agree. And if someone does chuckle at you, walk past them and let out a protein fart. That'll shut them up.

Hey, listen, Mule never minds that he always looks like a dork! :D

Oh thats just me invading your mind and finding out your innermost thoughts...don't worry, I won't tell...even though most of what you think about is illegal in some states...

LOL...well it's a good thing I'm not in the States then! :D

Is it that obvious what I think about most of the time :o

yeah, what they said....:D
Seriously, I realized something a long time ago. You first start going to the gym and think everyone is looking at you because youre in a new environment, whatever. But the longer you go, you realize that no-one is paying attention to you cuz theyre too worried about what their doing!
I use my own radio, its the kind thats like a headband that you wear on your head, the only drawback being that you can only listen to the radio. I only use it when Im doing my cardio, otherwise I leave it in a cubbiehole while I use weights.

WOW! What a difference!

I just got back from working out and using my walkman for the first time. I was so focused and intense, the music really got me pumped. It felt like I was the only one in the gym, I was so into the music. There were times in between songs where there was a few seconds of silence and I could hear the radio station playing over the gym's speakers - BORING! I'll never go back to that.

I smashed my with 110's DBs doing inclines last month. Smashed it right into my hip. I could have sworn that there was a sony print on my leg.

I tried working out with a walkman a couple of times, but it always got in my way, and it just did not seem to be worth the trouble.

I feel the same way but I've got the advantage of changing the radio station at my gym if I don't like the music so its never been a problem.

TSB droppin' by? the only problem I ever have with the neoprene pouch thing is when I'm doing squats and I have to wear the damn thing over my weight belt. and then yesterday in the middle of a set of squats, at like rep 3 or 4, my f'in headphones fell off, but I do love the pouch for cardio ( the "c" word), chest, just about everything else, plus, you can slip a flask in there.

Servus!

I found that my intensity was higher while listening to music. If it works for you grantus - go with it and to hell with what others may say!

A tip - if you plan on laying out the cash, think about a MD player. Jiggle resistant, can fit about 3 cd's worth of music on it and it's really small. mp3 player is also a great solution.

I totally agree with gopro f those that look at you and just train like you have never trained before...I use a cd player with the caselogic cd holder strapped to my waist and another case for 5 more discs just in case i want to change music... Just Train and dont look back...
