I was wondering what you guys thought about this?

When weight training, do you prefer slow, steady, controlled movements, or do you prefer to explode the weight, then slowly return it back? For example, you're doing your bench presses. Do you ease the weight up and ease it back down in one steady, controlled speed, or do you push the weight up quickly and slowly lower it? I prefer the "explode" technique because I believe it increases muscle power. What do you think?

I prefer to do them in a slow pace, so my muscles can stretch and contract nicely, and it reduces using any momentum.

I don't have a great body, but as long as I work hard like now, I'm gonna reach there.

I've done both ways. I find that it's easy to get injured if you "explode" too hard and fast on the positive.

But, maybe that's because I'm getting old!

Just because the majority believes it, does not make it true!

I like to do it slow when the weight is rather easy to handle.

When it's too heavy I like to do it really fast because I tend to panic.

Lift well! But don't forget to put it down afterwards.

It's best to explode , that way you're stressing a higher amount of muscle at once.

Slow and steady. Prince, you say you are getting old? For some reason I thought you were 30.

Slow and control for me!

I think you get much better results doing it this way because maybe I'm not handling the most weight in the gym compared to some guys but people tell me that I look allot better than they do.

There is a place for going fast but the risk factor of being injured goes up significantly! I've seen things in the gym that make me shiver! These are the type of people that think they know what they're doing and don't need help from anybody!

If you build it they will come

When I was young, it was fast and often but now that I'm a little older, its slow and controlled and goes for longer periods of time.

hahahahaha, oh you were talking about weight lifting.

I'm also more worried about injury so I prefer slow and controlled both ways, this way your more likely not to bounce or use momentum to lift the weight.

Just another day in the gutter

I take mine at a "medium pace".
