This may sound like a stupid question but I need someone to justify this to me...

My bulking seems to have hit a sticking point...right now I'm taking in 3000 cals per day and I'm thinking I should bump it to 3500 per day to re-establish the gains that I was making originally. Trying to gain another 12-17 lbs. by September (the right way, of course).

I was thinking about trying DPW8's bulking diet in another thread but I thought it might add too much too fast and I'd gain too much fat mass (since it would jump my totals by 1000 cals per day). Should I be worried about this, or should I just shut up, eat everything (healthy) in sight and get my frigging weight up so that I can cut down in the fall?

Currently my program is going really well because I have managed to gain the weight with a minimum of fat mass added. Any two cents are welcome.

You could still follow that bulking program but just adjust the portion sizes to reflect the kcals you need at the moment. I wouldn't suggest bumping right up by a 1000kcals. Adjust the portions to reflect a 250 kcal increase to what you're taking in now, week 2 add another 250.

It would help to know your macro breakdown though, you might just need a tweak in that?

ditto to w8lifter...

My current macro breakdown is:

200-225 grams protein per day : 26-30% of calories
65-90 grams fats per day : 20-27% of calories
Remainder in carbs, roughly 300-400 grams per day.

I also supp with 20 grams glutamine daily. Properly hydrated I'm holding steady between 172-176 currently.

My fat breakdown isn't very good because I'm allergic to nuts and fish so those avenues aren't available to me for good fats. I use flax or pumpkinseed oil but that is really my only avenue for good fats besides cooking w/ olive oil. Protein comes through whey shakes as well as chicken and some lean beef (had some steak this weekend...yum!).
