Well for the whole school year my breakfast was 1 scoop ON whey, 1 cup skim milk, 1 cup oats mixed up.

When I dont have school, and now that I'm off for summer and just taking night summer classes, I have more time in the morning so I make 8 egg whites, and 1 cup oats.

But...

I'm getting sick of eggs REALLY fast, I mean I always have them but its just annoying making them in the morning, since I'm use to my quick shake.

Anyways I was wondering is it ok to have things other then whey/eggs for breakfast?

How would this be as nasty as it sounds...

1 can tuna, 1 cup milk, 1 cup oats?

Does it have to be eggs/whey in the AM, does anyone have tuna/chicken/or anything else?

I always thought really fast absorbtion was important, but with having cottage cheese before bed does it really matter?

I'll probally still have eggs sometime during the day, just don't really like to fuss around first thing in the AM, rather open my can scarf it down and have a big bowl of oats with milk.

You have my explicit permission to have whatever you desire (as long as its healthy, mostly protein, vegetables and slow release carbs, plus fruit every once in a while) for breakfast. There is no reason to stick to conventional foods if you don't want to..in fact, its a shame. There are fully dozens of way to prepare eggs, and oatmeal, and protein pancakes, and to mix various high protein foods into interesting combinations that allow you diversity in your diet and interest for your tastebuds.

Even with foods we love, familiarty breeds contempt, the outcome of boredome. Spice up your life, make every breakfast just a little different.

Eat what ever the hell you want as long as its healthy. Chicken and brown rice, steak and potatoes, stir fry, it doesn't matter just as long as you keep it healthy with lean proteins, efa's, and complex carbs. For the longest time I would eat chicken/steak with brown rice before class to keep me held over a bit longer and I'd sneak my meals inbetween classes...then when I got home I'd eat some eggs and carbs before my workout.

What ever floats your boat bud!

My breakfast that I eat everymorning and never get tired of:

7 egg whites
1 whole egg
1 tomatoe diced
whole bunh of chopped green onions
chopped nacho Jalepino peppers ( as many as you can handle )

Scramble it all in a skillet

1 cup of oatmeal with a dash of cinnimon and a little molases...Yummmy, I want a plate right now.

I was never a "breakfast" person, at least in terms of breakfast foods.

Never really had a thing for eggs, toast, pancakes, ect. I'm used to having chicken in the morning, and sometime's I'll have red meat first thing in the morning. And I love it!

Timing is important, as you arise in the morning in a fairly catabolic state (7-8 hours without the intake of). So what I plan on doing this summer is having maybe a half scoop of what (~10g) right when I wake up, and then begin cooking up some breakfast. Gets some fast acting whey in there, and then reinforced by a good solid meal. Might be unneccesary, but it can't hurt.

the scoop of whey before breakfast probably is not neccessary...unless you are a competing career bodybuilder. A lot of us regular Joe's ( probably 99.8 % of the people on the boards ) try to adopt methods that the pro's use to gain a slight edge. I have been lifting for three years and got set free last year from the bondage of trying to everything a pro BB does to try to get the edge. I realized I was not a pro BB and never will be so I needed to relax a little. When I stopped doing a lot of the things I was doing, I did not suffer and continued to gain mass and build muslle. Now If you are a pro and your pocket book depends on it, you better incoporate all the " edge" methods. If not, relax and enjoy life.

This is true, it is stretch to do it, which is why I only put it up for thought. I'm a college guy, I despise bodybuilding (it's all about strength and wellness, not beuty pageants), and I only know the tip of the iceberg when it comes to total fitness.
If you're like me, not being a big breakfast guy, I found the protein shake to work rather well. I'd throw down a bit, kickstart the day with protein, probably shower up and then decide what to make for breakfast. I need time before I can eat; no appetite at all sometimes in the early morning. The shake allows a little kick in the gap between waking up and breakfast, which is sometimes around a half an hour to an hour. That just might apply to me though, as you might be a hungry beast once you wake up!

What exactly are you trying to achieve? Are you trying to gain muscle mass and strength? Do you want to lean down for a fit look? Or are you trying to prepare for a "beauty pageant?"

When I was in college, lifting around 12:00pm after my last class, I would have a large bowl of whole grain cereal (8:00am)....whatever I could afford at that time. I had to make sure it was whole grain otherwise I would be hungry a short time period after eating. Whole grains cannot be digested so it works harder to do so and in turn sucks out everything that it can get it's hands on for food. This helps regulate your blood sugar and also helps prevents colon cancer. I would then hit the gym after my last class and not eat a thing before. What that would do is, it would halp use up everything that I eat for breakfast for energy and prepare my system to take in and obsorb the next thing that would pass my lips. (Make sure you drink a lot of water.) After my workout I would then go home and have two boneless, skinless chicken breasts and some vegetables. Then for supper I would have a combination of my whey protein and chicken breast or I would have tuna instead of chicken breasts.

Improtant fact is to keep it simple so you can stick to it. I would grill out all of my chicken breast for the week to come on sunday. I would put some cheap BBQ sauce on then and place it in a container that I can shake up for an even coat.

try this, i guarantee you never go back:

1 frozen banana
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
half or one tablespoon natty peanut butter
2 tablespoons of whole flax seed
1 scoop On whey
1/2 cup or 1 cup of milk (if 1/2 cup of milk, add 1/2 cup of water too)

Blend all this, it tastes so damn good its like u got a peanut butttery chocolatey creamy and fruity shake at jamba juice

you get the fruits u need, slowing burning carbs u need, protein, and EFA's

I have no concept of relating certain foods with times of the day anymore. I just eat!

I am also/have been sick of eggs for a long time but I eat them most everyday anyways. They are a great high protein and low calorie food with alot of volume.

but yeah, eat whatever you want for breakfast as long as it meets with what your diet.
