I had made amazing progress in the gym in the past few months. My diet was on track and I was achieving gains faster and better than I ever had before. However one night I got sick with a stomach virus and just kept throwing up for about a day and a half. I was out from school for 4 days and the only things that I could manage to get down were gatorade, bland crackers, and diet soda to settle my stomach. I basically lost all my progress and everything I had worked for in the off season just 2 days before my baseball try-outs. I knew I would be DH'ing this year so my strength is very important because I'm under a lot of pressure to perform at the plate. In the past month I've been pretty much crushed about what happened. Does anyone have any tips about what I can do next time to at least make an attempt to keep the weight and muscle on while I'm sick. Of course I'll be doing everything in my power to prevent getting sick so responding by saying don't get sick in the first place really won't do that much good. Thank you.

If you were only sick for 4 days, trust me, you will hardly have lost anything. A week back at the gym and eating normally again and youll be back where you were.

I agree with Moondogg...I've been sick for a full week- how do you think I feel!?!? I'm going crazy. :pissed:

I would keep up the high proteins, as well as healthy fats, and limit carbs if you are not training. I would not go too high over maintanence...main thing is- get healthy as quickly as possible. I would put all diet thoughts away in terms of calories until you are fully healthy to go back at it again.

Get your multivitamins in, fruits, veggies, keep proteins up (lean), and you should be good to go.

I am in the same boat here........

1 week will not undo months of training. Normally the first few workouts after getting back into it are a bit weaker but it will come right back. Try to keep calories decent and protein high while sick but make sure you rest and get better.

I agree with comments above, 4 days wont impact you a great deal.

I would suggest taking it easy when you return to training, dont try to resume the same intensity as before you got sick - the last thing you want to do is injure yourself and have more time off.

Get your diet back in check and gradually get increase your training intensity. Your body will restore itself very quickly.
