Well, I injured my shoulder on saturday night, its a long story, but after going into the doctor today, she told me it will take several weeks to completely heal, and that I shouldn't really do any kind of push movements aka bench pressing and overhead presses for at least 3-4 weeks. My question is, what can I do instead to maintain my strength for my shoulders and chest? I don't want to go back in 3-4 weeks and find out that I'm a weakling again after seeing good progress this entire summer.

Your shoulder is injured. Your top priority at this point should be to rest it to let it heal, and if that isnt a priority you're a moron.

You're injured, shit happens. It sucks but you've gotta deal with it im afraid. Lay off heavy lifting especially on pressing untill its completely healed, add in more flexibility work, and use your time off to figure out how you can prevent this from happening again in the future.

Perhaps focus on cardio for a while, or utilize the time to learn more about nutrition, or training, or something.

I'm in the same boat bud :( I injured my wrist and I can't do any type of lifting for a few weeks, I am bummed to no end. I can't do any leg exercises either because my knee is still recovering from another injury. That's the name of the game, just take the time off to heal yourself and focus on coming back. You always come back stronger after a good rest. Good luck.

do what the doctor says. you can't push it if you are injured.

same thing happened to me. i worked out anyways and ended up having to sit out for nearly 2 months. just stop. you wont loose that much in 1 month if you continue to eat right.

That is always my biggest fear, losing what I've gained, but if you continue to load protein and calories you should be O.K when you come back.
