What do you listen to when you lift?

I don't really mind the music that plays at the gym, since it isn't hip-hop/rap/pop but I need to plug into my phone and rock out to the Teutonic gods of heavy metal because of the socializing tool sheds in the early morning during the week. This one older guy, early fifties, is quiet as a churchmouse when working out. Until one or more of his chat buddies shows up. Then he's grunting, groaning, exhaling hard, girlie burping, etc until one of them wanders over and he can start going on about how this sports league sucks sweaty monkey balls but it's still the greatest in the world. This team is the greatest but they'll never win again. Blah blah blah, yackity schmackity. All the while his workouts are upperbody intensive and lower body sees two sets of step-ups on a crate once a week.

I don't mind people talking and socializing at the gym but there is no reason the folks hanging out in the sauna need to be able to hear what he's going on about on the gym floor. I do like being the outcast, though. I get in, lift heavy using multi-joint exercises, compound sets, periodizing my weights and reps, get it all done in less than an hour. Stretch the muscles worked and any support muscles then I'm out the door after swapping shirts for a dry one.

I'd rather listen to cats being killed in a wood chipper than listen to mr. tool shed go on about his beer binges. Maybe that's why you have that gut despite all the slow cardio and cable crunches you do? Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I'm a very tolerant guy and it takes a lot to get on my nerves, but this dude's existence is like a rake on the chalkboard of my soul.

Couple of my favorites from Rammstein

Pussy

Too big, too small,
size does matter, after all.
Zu gro?, zu klein,
er k?nnte etwas gr??er sein.
Mercedes Benz und Autobahn,
alleine in das Ausland fahren
Reise Reise, Fahrvergn?gen
ich will nur Spa?, mich nicht verlieben.

Just a little bit...
Just a little bitch...

You've got a pussy
I have a dick ahh
so what's the problem?
let's do it quick!
So take me now
before it's too late
life is too short, I can't wait!
Take me now! Oh, don't you see?
I can't get laid in Germany!

Too short, to tall
it doesn't matter, one size fits all,
zu gro?, zu klein,
der Schlagbaum sollte oben sein!

Sch?nes Fr?ulein, Lust auf mehr?
Blitzkrieg mit dem Fleischgewehr!
Schnaps im Kopf, du holde Braut,
steck Bratwurst in dein Sauerkraut.

Just a little bit...
Be my little bitch...

You've got a pussy
I have a dick ahh
so what's the problem
let's do it quick!
So take me now
before it's too late
life is too short
so i can't wait!
Take me now oh don't you see?
I can't get laid in Germany!

Germany! Germany!

Lyric ? Rammstein

Too big, too small
Size does matter, after all
Too big, too small
He could be a bit bigger
Mercedes Benz and autobahn
Driving abroad alone
Journey, journey*, driving pleasure
I just want fun, not to fall in love

Just a little bit?
Just a little bitch?

You?ve got a pussy
I have a dick**
So what?s the problem?
Let?s do it quick
So take me now
before it?s too late
Life?s too short so I can?t wait
Take me now oh don?t you see
I can?t get laid in Germany

Too short, too tall
Doesn?t matter, one size fits all
Too big, too small
The boom barrier should be upright

Beautiful lady, (do you) desire more
Blitzkrieg with the fleshy weapon
Schnaps on the brain, you lovely bride
Stick a bratwurst*** into your sauerkraut***

Just a little bit?
Be my little bitch?

You?ve got a pussy
I have a dick
So what?s the problem?
Let?s do it quick
So take me now
Before it?s too late
Life?s too short
So I can?t wait
Take me now oh don?t you see
I can?t get laid in Germany

Germany!

Ich Will

Ich will das ihr mir vertraut
Ich will das ihr mir glaubt
Ich will eure Blicke spuehren
Jeden Herzschlag kontrollieren

Ich will eure Stimmen hoeren
Ich will die Ruhe stoehren
Ich will das ihr mich gut seht
Ich will das ihr mich versteht

Ich will eure Phantasie
Ich will eure Energie
Ich will eure Haende sehen
In Beifall untergehen

Seht ihr mich
Versteht ihr mich
F?hlt ihr mich
Hoert ihr mich

Koennt ihr mich hoeren
Koennt ihr mich sehen
Koennt ihr mich fuehlen
Ich versteh euch nicht

Wir wollen das ihr uns vertraut
Wir wollen das ihr uns alles glaubt
Wir wollen eure Haende sehen
Wir wollen in Beifall untergehen

Koennt ihr mich hoeren
Koennt ihr mich sehen
Koennt ihr mich fuehlen
Ich versteh euch nicht

Koennt ihr uns hoeren
Koennt ihr uns sehen
Koennt ihr uns fuehlen
Wir verstehen euch nicht

Metallica Performs Their ‘Freeze ‘Em All’ Concert Live in Antarctica

Metallica Performs Their ?Freeze ?Em All? Concert Live in Antarctica

Metallica recently made history by performing a live concert in Antarctica on December 8th, 2013. After completing the concert, they became the first band to perform a concert on all seven continents in a single year. Metallica rocked out 10 songs under a small dome at the Carlini Station for their cold-weather concert, which the band titled ?Freeze ?Em All.? A large group of Coca-Cola Zero contest winners and scientists were in attendance and, to help prevent noise pollution, listened to the live music through headphones. Music from the ?Freeze ?Em All? concert is available to purchase from Metallica?s online store.

This is why I workout at a Metroflex gym, we get none of those there even if the particular one I go leaves a lot to be desired (namely cleanliness and a deadbeat owner). That said, I can totally relate to what you go through Zaphod, it's why after I left Lifetime Fitness (was single, lots of hot young pussy and I was the biggest younger guy there) I went to a real gym. The people that never change but show up for fucking social hour should be thrown into a room with a Drill Sargent and made to feel some intense pain.

depends on what I'm doing
cochise gets me through deadlifts every single time
my cardio stuff changes a lot
I like some dmx when I'm feeling sassy just so I can sing certain lyrics loudly in the gym :)

Look, I realize he's the owner of this site but damn, don't you think you've taken kissing ass a bit to far? :roflmao:

there is a fat ass in my gym who blasts death metal on the zumba system which is in the same room as the weights....................he takes around 2-3 hours to finish his work out......
tomorrow im going to look at a new gym cause the wank stain owner wont do anything about it, i can listen to most music and just put my headphones in, but this shit is so loud nothing will drown it out.........

classical and violin.. Keeps me focused and helps my lifts... I am getting big into Lindsay Sterling she is a beast on the violin and does dubstep remixes. If i listen to metal or anything i get to pumped up and end up falling short. I like to remain focused and serious.

Crystallize - Lindsey Stirling (Dubstep Violin Original Song) - YouTube

I thought I was the only person that listened to classical dubstep while training. Her music as a hypnotic rhythm that brings on the zone much easier than metal. Metal is good for short burst intensity, but it can hit a point where every song sounds the same and nothing really stands out.

Lindsey is the shit.
