Hi I was wondering just how much I should work out. I dont want to over train, but still want to build as much muscle as possible. I currently have split my routine up into 2 days: 1) Chest and tri's, 2)Back and Bi's. How many days a week should I do this routine to get enough exercise but not overtrain?

No Legs?

I would go:
Chest/shoulder/tris
Back/traps/Bis
Legs

And do a 3 on 1 off. 2 on 2 off split.

You will definately know if you overtrain... you have no idea :)

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I dont really understand entirely the the "3 on 1 off. 2 on 2 off" terminology. Does that mean three days off one day off and 2 days on 2 days off? and am I supposed to vary it?

Sorry, I fuct up :) It should be 3 on 1 off. 2 on 1 off.

So here is an example with that routine, we will start it on a Monday:

Mon- Chest/Shoulder/Tri
Tues- Back/Traps/Bi's
Wed- Legs
Thurs- OFF
Fri- Chest/Shoulder/Tri's
Sat- Back/Traps/Bi's
Sun- OFF
Mon- Legs
Tues- Chest/shoulder/Tris'
Wed- Back/Traps/Bi's
Thurs- OFF
Etc...

Understand?

Ohh yeah I understand. Thank you very much. I'll try that routine and see how it works

Its a good routine. Start with lower volume if you like(IE: 2-3 sets per exercise, and 2-3 exercises per muscle group) and up it if necissary.
