What is the best..

I am sorta not the one to comment on this really, but the way I understand it: burn more than you take in, the fat will gradually come off. I don't think there is really one exercise better than another for love handles, you just need to get to your target heart rate and burn off the calories.

(still getting back into researching, forgive me if this is completely wrong)

You can't spot reduce - bodyfat comes off prortionally across your body. As above, diet & cardio will get you there w/ consistency & persistence.

I am assuming VAT fat? Visceral adipose tissue fat that collects in the belly and on the viscera of organs. In children, higher amounts of aerobic excercise seems to help that

we know it responds to cortisol but so far other than good rest, good low glycemic index diet, etc. thre is really no single easy panacea for lowering cortisol and therefore vat fat.

There are small studies that antiinflammatory diets, high in fish, colorful foods etc may help, small trials suggesting some component of green tea which may be why asians have less VAT fat but these are not proven or conclusive in any way.
 
I second the vote for lipo. If you have pockets that simply will not budge, lipo's the way to go. But DO be a dear and try dieting first, okay?
 
This was posted like a month and a half ago, and I haven't seen her around the boards since, so I think the advice suddenly stirring is falling on deaf ears. Just FYI :)
