I once got the instant kind of accident a long time ago, it was disgusting.

I accidently bought the "minute" version of Quakers.. they just seemed cut to a smaller size? Is there any other difference? I didn't notice any nutritional difference at least based on the label and the taste.

Otherwise I just get the old fashioned type

The GI/GL of instant is different.

wait so the minute in the microwave one isnt the correct quaker oats??? ive been using that one for like 6 months now...

lol iv been using instant for a couple years but i just figured out that its the wrong one.... well gracias for all ur help

It is microwavable but it takes 3-4 mins. instead of 1 minute like the instant.

Thanks. I was told by a local fitness instructor and several weight lifters that instant was a better pre-workout meal and being a novice, I simply took thier advice.

Pre-workout? No, I would disagree. Most fitness instructors don't know their ass from their face and they talk a lot of shit.

hey jodi, is there much of a difference between steel-coat and rolled, nutritionally?

Yes, very much so. Steel cut is better for you than rolled.

The less processed the grain, the better.

Except Steel cut takes for freakin ever to cook

Does steel cut work just as well in a blender, raw ? My old fashioned oats are easily liquified with my cheap wal-mart blender

Personally I would stick to your old fashioned oats in the blender.

I wouldn't put steel cut in a blender either. Talk about a disaster

Eheh, what's the deal. You think it would tear my blender up because it's a cheap blender or it would tear any model?

Just hearing "steel cut" I assumed it was just actually cut differently. I take it it must be much more, uhm, wood-like than old fashioned oats?

I'm going to have to buy some just out of curiosity and perhaps to test the power of my blender? :thumb:

It's like little pebbles :) It's very good but it must be cooked before eating.

What it actually is the grout cut into pieces as opposed to rolled where the grout is removed and the insides are rolled out.

i've never had steel cut before, but would it be inedible uncooked?

edit: typo
