i eat less than maintenance calories while lifting 5-6 days a week.

is it possible my muscles will grow due to the exercise while my body fat reduces due to lower calorie intake?

im guessing my muscles wont respond too well but i might loose a bit of fat? i reckon i have 10-14lbs to loose easy

It depends on how low you drop the calories???? I lost fat and gained muscle at the same time when I was 19 and also again at 27 but it was very hard and my diet was perfect every minute of every day.
The diet that did it for me at 27 was a high protein, medium fat low carb.....not Adkins low but about 35 carb grams per meal and 6 meals a day.

It depends on a few things:
1. how far below maintainence you are eating
2. how new you are to training
3. how you are training on those 5-6 days
4. what you are eating (protein/carbs/fats)

If you want to gain muscle then you can't eat too far below maintainence - you are better off sitting at maintainence and taking things slowly. You will (if you are overly large and you are relatively new to training and if you train/eat right) also lose fat at the same time - but it will be slower.

If you want to lose fat faster then you need to eat below maintainence... but muscle gains will be hard.
