Also, how do you quantify a threat? Number of people killed, effected, wounded, or future impact?

I'd say terrorism is pretty low on the list, yet it gets the most funding. Pretty lopsided.

In anycase, all of these advanced weapons the military is buying does nothing for stateless groups they are fighting: you can't declare war on an idea, only war declared by one state on another.

Religion + Disease has probably killed 1000 gagillion bajillion more than terrorism.

It's good to see that you're still the same ol' BigDyl...making the wrong choices and reaching the wrong conclusions.

Humans are the biggest threat to themselves.

I vote other for technology. Human beings impulses override their rational thinking far too often for us to successfully manage the tremendous power we have created.

We are too smart for our own good. Technology in general with no one particular technology being more dangerous than another will be our downfall.

Ignorance. All the technology and religion in the world is harmless in the hands of a rational, intelligent, empathetic human being.

In terms of technological demise, "Grey Goo" gets my vote.

Ignorance without power is harmless, wouldn't you agree?

I dunno, school shooters have no power - they're just idiots, and they still cause a lot of destruction.

Though i take your point, in terms of HUMANITY ignorance needs power to have any sort of effect on that scale.

But i guess it only takes one ignorant person to start something, and all the other ignorant people hear about it and agree, and before you know it they DO have power.

An ignorant person is harmless, ignorant people are dangerous.

danny81 becomming a major "playa"....

danny is to stupid, give him a gun he would end up shooting himself before any one else. any way i agree with gaz if enough ignorant people gatherd together for one couse that is dangerous.

Making wrong choices? How can a subjective question or opinion be wrong?

School Shooter = terrorist.

By going for the non-thought "Oh noze! Religionz is badz!" crap. Plenty of killing has been done with no religious dogma attached to it. Hell, the greatest amount of killings going on right now (which is happening in Africa) has zero to do with religion. Nothing whatsoever.

Even those killings done in the name of religion were usually just the desire for more of some item of wealth masked with a religious purpose.

But fair enough, I guess there is no wrong answer to a subjective question when one can "subjectively" ignore the facts.

I was thinking more along the lines of the crusades, and radical islam, and bush doing things because god instructed him to.

God is used as an excuse to commit crimes (sins).

However, it's all just a facade for another purpose. What might that be?

Power, and wealth.

Keep in mind, the question can't have a 'wrong' answer.

Correct. And they're would be less grabs for power and wealth if there were less people. Additionally, the more the population rises, the more fighting there will be for power and wealth.

My point stands, religion isn't the biggest threat to the world.

I suppose there's no wrong answer, but there sure as hell can be a stupid one.

Socialism. It rewards the unintelligent and lazy, facilitates overpopulation, gives governments too much control, etc.
