if your caloric intake does not exceed your metabolic rate you will not gain weight, so eat more.

I know this is an old thread, but I have a question, I guess I don't understand the logic of this answer, I (was) an under eater, yet I did gain w8, so how do you know how fast your metabolic rate is (or slow) because there is no way my caloric intake could have been exceeding my metabolic rate, maybe I don't understand this, care to enlighten me........thanks![]()

You gained w8 on what you were eating because your metabolism shut down...which is why we're trying to get your calories up...you need to reset your metabolism. When you don't eat enough, your body thinks it's in a famine, and will store EVERYTHING you do give it...which is why you can get fat on 800 calories a day!

If you are gaining weight, then yes it was.
You can only gain weight if you consume more calories than you burn, if you don't eat enough or you only eat say once a day, your metabolic rate will slow down and your body will start to store more of what you eat for energy it knows you will need later.
