As a new member I'll give you my stats: 5'11, 180ish, 8bf%...

I'm currently doing high rep training at 20 reps per set. I notice I'm getting one hell of a pump off of this, considering I've been doing 8-10 reps for quite a while before.

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the rep issue. I know the fast/slow twitch fibers are influenced by low and high reps, but does anyone else incorporate this into their routine?

Like I mentioned, I love the pump, I feel stronger and harder. I'm only currently taking creatine and about 1.5grams of protein per lb. of bodyweight.

I plan to switch up my routine....go with 8-10 reps for a few weeks, then 4-6 reps for a few weeks.

Has anyone else done this, and if so, will this benefit my growth?

Well out of my workout..
I noticed that lots of Reps 13-20 u feel the burn..but as for growth it dont really help....I know that its more for the cuts..
n endurance
But 4-8 Is more for the bulk :)....
N get u stronger

"Burn" is lactic acid buildup, you can get the same thing by doing 100 reps, or 200, or 300 - which has nothing to do with growth.

Switching up the reps is something done with HST type programs, I liked it, you would do 15 for a week or two, 10, and then 5 - I had to hold the 5 rep period to only one week because with the fast strength gains came elbow problems for me.

Low reps and more sets is the key to bulking up!

i agree with prince. the variety is a good idea.

also...high reps do not get you cut. that's a myth.
diet gets you cut.

Thanx for the replies!

I'm sure some of it is the creatine, but I get a great pump, and my muscles feel harder and more full than in a long time.

But I'm anxious to start the high weight/low reps(4-6). How many sets do you guys suggest for the core exercises...bench, squat, deadlift, presses, etc.???
