when maxing have u guys ever...

when i maxed on bench lastnight i got 225 then i didnt have any 2 1/2lb oly weights so i had to squeeze a standard 2 1/2lb weight inbetween 2plate lol..so i got 230lbs so then i threw 235lbs on their and couldnt do it..i had to try it 3x until i finally got it :clapping: .....have u guys ever had to try ur max lift like 3x's until u get it?..u think it was just a mental thing or something?

Sometimes this happens, though for me my second lift is my most powerful. Also in comp you get 3 attempts.
 
Yup. I've failed on an attempt or two before finally hitting a PR before, definitely.
 
In my experience, I'm usually not as strong after a failure on a max attempt, but there have been times that I've surpassed previous strength immediately afterwards.

You have to increase the weight each time you make an attempt, I believe after the first failure its 15 pounds.
