Just as a side note: that system is called the Phaylanx (sp?). It's mounted on large ships and is used for self defense of the ship. It can completely obliterrate an incoming missle before it has a chance to do any damage. It's not used on people. But DAMN, I like your thinking. It sure sounds fun.:thumb:
CIWS, 60-75 rounds per second they were mounted on port and starboard most sides above the radioshack I worked in. When they fired those fuckers during target practices the vibrations literally chipped the paint off of the ceiling.

There's not point to ground troops. I also doubt the US would take out Iran's President. If for no other reason than the US has a law preventing itself from assassinating people (you can thank Jimmy Carter for that). But anything that has to do with nuclear technology won't make it.

Not to be pedantic, DOMS, but it was Reagan that signed this Executive Order forbidding assassination.

Is trying to assassinate a foreign leader illegal? Executive Order 12333, signed by President Reagan, says "No person employed by or acting on behalf of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, assassination," which confirmed and expanded the bans on assassination laid down by his two prior presidential predecessors.

However, the US government has attempted to assassinate leaders anyway: Qadaffi and Hussein.

It looks as though we are both wrong.

I'm not sure about Qadaffi, but we went after Hussein during a war.

Powell said the executive order signed in 1976 by President Gerald Ford forbidding assassination "is under review."

DOMS and Mr_Snafu were wrong about this....all my faith in humanity is lost now

:funny:

Well, DOMS, I think we were sort of right and wrong.

And Foreman, being as well versed as you are you know what "Pedantic" means :)

Qadaffi:

In 1986, the US bombed his residence and killed his daughter, but he lived. Doesn't bother me about the attack. He's f*cked.

But part of the reason for this Executive Order forbidding assassination perhaps is that it 1. looks good, and 2. Helps prevent a tit-for-tat.

It's weird but targeting even Congressmen is easy to do. I use to live 2 blocks from Congress and was neighbors with wtih 2 Congressman. Thankfully, no group or individual has attempted this because it would be easy.

"Thank you, Mr. Arab. We no longer have need of your services. We will be leaving the region completely as we no longer have a national interest in this part of the world. We wish you good luck, safe journey and if you ever feel the need to join the modern world in peaceful international friendship, we will welcome you. Until then, Thank you, fuq you and have a nice day"

Hi Burner,

That's assuming they would "forget us" which I do NOT see happening. They now HAVE "an aggenda" (at least according to THEIR "thinking" which is to destroy us)... I do not see how we can just "walk away" without them following us to our borders - and within. I see no alternative - except to drop MANY big ones on the ENTIRE Middle East. ONLY THEN will there be ANY peace - anywhere! They all "think" they are now on a "religious crusade" and you (if you study history!!) know what that "means"!!!!

Hi Nick,

Me? Sick? How do you mean?

All I said is what I SEE as THE ONLY WAY OUT of this BULLSHIT! REALITY!

If you can come up with a REAL SOLUTION that WILL WORK, let's hear it! I've been in war and I know what happens and know the bull...

Let's hear YOUR solution. Seriously. I am open to alternatives THAT WORK!

"Fictitious" or "otherwise" - that WHOLE REGION of the world is COMPLETELY NUTS and RELIGION is the basis for that INSANITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PURE AND SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only way out is wipe it off the face of the earth!!!!!!!!!!! How else are you going to get those people to listen to anything?!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I did not have to say this but I see NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE AT ALL.
CERTAINLY "PRAYING" is not going to do any damn good - that's all those people do other there and look at what it gets them............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am DAMN TIRED of those areas of the world SPREADING their MISERY to the rest of the world. "They" "SAY" their "Savior" is coming - what the HELL is holding his "arrival" up???!!!!!

I'll listen intently to anyone's SANE AND CONSTRUCTIVE AND VALID reasoning on how to stop the MESS that is over there and always has been!!!!!!

It was just wishful thinking....

I just can't condemn a whole race becuse of a few 'bad apples' I may be wrong, but I do believe that most islamics just want to be like everybody else: Go about their business, work, provide for a family.

Have you ever read the Koran? Believe me, condemning them all isn't wrong.

nope. But, unless I am am worng..and that has been known once or twice in my life...that it also preaches peace.

Not much, and only towards Muslims. The book is filled with "if they are unbelievers, kill them", "if a Muslim talks to those people, kill him", and "kill all the Jews."

Now, someone will come along and say that they Bible also says such harsh things. This will be a person who doesn't know what they're talking about. Yeah, you'll run into "that person should be killed" a time or two in the Bible (for serious offenders), but the Koran takes it to a whole other level.

Ever read the Bible????? same with them.

I was about to get out of the AF (back in '97) was going to stay in Jersey and go to school there. I saw that they had a class on the different religions. Thought that would have been something interesting....to help understand the diffrerent religious views. But l got out and came home to go to school here...

I have read some of it, but more than that I had some friends who were from Jordan, Kuwait, and Sauddi Arabia and I came to unerstand how they perceived the Koran and its teachings.....vert ugly.

That's what I was saying. And yes, the Bible has some pages of intolerance, but it's nothing compared to the Koran. Not even close. I'm not big on dumping on people's religion, but I utterly detest the Muslim faith.
