breakfast: protein shake and cereal with lowfat milk.

midmorning: lowfat cottage cheese or a protein shake.

lunch: breast of chicken without skin or a tuna sandwich without spread.

midafternoon: protein shake

dinner: protein shake with chicken or some meat/fish.

is this ok???? thanks!!!

At 5'7" and 140 with 11% percent bodyfat you need to access what your goals are. Let's say you get down to 5% bodyfat (contest time for bodybuilders)if you lose no muscle in the process that puts you at 130-131ish which is pretty slight for your height. I would suggest adding a few high density carbs (like oatmeal)and real food protiens (think tunaor chicken)along with plusing up your training to try to stay at the same weight with less bodyfat. Don't be afraid to take in a few extra calories in order to keep your intensity up in the gym.

Looks like a high protein, low fat/carb diet.

1.) Try and substitute at least one of the protein shake meals for real food, or at least something different like a bar.

2.) Add some carbs.

3.) Try and add one more meal daily.

4.) Add some fruits and vegetables.

I'm sorry but you guys are leading this person astray. What they really need to do is.
Eat more fruits and vegetables.
Eat some real food and add some carbs.
Stop living off shakes.
Of course this is all IMVHO

Which is exactly what prince said...and we all agreed to it.

I agree we all agreed, with the exception of TSB and his lack of desire for fruit. I guess I'll have to start putting smiley faces all over my post so someone will get my very bad dry sense of humor.

I can sit and talk to someone face to face and they usually don't know if I'm putting them on or what, so I can imagine what it's like reading a post like this. Sorry............why am I always saying that here?

Let me start over and say "Yeah, what they said".

TSB is right that too much fruit sucks, because it's high in fructose, and as soon as the liver glycogen is full, fructose turns to FAT!

What then would be the definition of "TOO" much fruit. If you say fruit sucks, then some might possibly drop it completely from their diet. Is there a good balance, or is it just a total waste time, energy and funds that we could be putting into another mug of N-Large.

I enjoy a good apple every now and then. I throw frozen bananas and milk in the blender. Every once in awhile I have a fresh Georgia peach.
Do these things need to be moved to a cheat day or what?? Or are we talking about how many papayas you can shove down a lab rats whatever before he blimps out. It's most probable that none of us go that far anyway with our diet that we're in danger of fruit overload. OCICBW

Now where's that smiley thingy??

You can handle about 50g of fructose before spill-over into fat stores occurs.

So, about 2 banana's.

Thanks TSB. I usually don't have more than one piece of fruit per day. At night in the blender to aid in the consistency of a protein shake. Also makes it taste better.

a lot of people who try to eat enough produce tend to neglect veggies, some fruit is good, but veggies contain more phytonutrients than fruit and should make up the majority of fresh produce consumed anyway, aside from the fructose issue.

Good point cytrix.

A person can only eat so much in a day (assuming the calories/macros are being counted) and it comes down to quality. Fruit isn't necessarily bad for you, but if you are restricted to 150g carbs in a day, there's much more important foods to be eating.

Same goes for protein really. A lot of people ask how I can possibly eat 200 grams of protein (like that's a lot

), well it's not in addition to what I regularly eat, it's in place of it.
