I had to buy a new computer and it has Windows 8 and I fucking hate it!
I have never had an issue with any new version of Windows starting back from Windows 3.11 up until Windows 7, but 8 is just stupid!
I might as well switch to a MAC.

What didn't you like?

Windows 8 is horrific! It is god damn awful! I won't use it. I'll fix people's computers, but I personally will not own a device that runs it. I hope Microsoft burns in hell and everyone goes to apple. I am pretty sure that everyone here knows how much I hate apple, so you get an idea about how much I hate Microsoft now.

I have heard nothing but bad reviews about Windows 8. i'm going to be milking 7 until they no longer support it just like I did 2000.

Same here, I was in IT for around 14 years and always hated MACs, now I have an iPhone, iPod, AppleTV and an iPad, I guess a MAC computer is next.

Ignorant question by me:

How long will I have to wait for Windows 8 to change or fade away?

I will probably have to buy a new laptop in a year and it will be with Windows 8 as there is not much choice. I'd never use an Apple.

I suppose I could do as Prince did and pay $5 to go to a 7, GUI.

I'm still using Windows XP on a 6 1/2 year old laptop.

I use W7. Just get phucking 7 and be done with it. I've never used MAC but heard once you go MAC you never go back.

If you down grade you may get this error,
[h=1]"windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style."[/h]
i have ran across this many times downgrading windows 8 software or reformatting windows 7 computers. I have to pull the harddrives out dock them into my stardock and then format them in BIOS creating the proper partition. The basic delete and formate does not create a UEFI partition. There is also a bootable disk that can do this as well.

I actually like windows 8 after hacking the shit out of it. I don't run it but I am running it through VMware for testing purposes. What I like the most is the multiple screen configuration options are much more powerful and does not require you to get third party software for this. Also I like the loading your profile from the cloud feature. I migrated all my settings to the cloud with my profile so now EVERY windows 8 machine I log into has all my settings and configuration changes along with what ever files I have on the cloud.

The metro feature for deskstops or laptops is horrible and there should be a disable feature built into it, or a feature that allows it to auto go to metro if you have a transformer pad or hybrid laptop that allows you to undock the screen.

with in 2 years i believe samsung is going to bury both Windows and Mac there revenue base all ready makes both companies look like small businesses and they actually stated its their personal goal to crush the two. I wouldnt be surprised if you start seeing full blown andriod OS's for laptops soon.

What motherboard do you own that has a format utility?

With the $5 GUI program and a lot of tweaking I got it "usable" and pretty damn close to the Windows 7 GUI, so I am happy.
I did have to spend $100 and upgrade to Windows 8 Pro because we use this machine as our server and need to be able to remote desktop into it.

I was turned off of Windows 8 before it was even released when i heard it was going to phone home about all software that get's installed onto a PC. more Big Brother bullshit

Still using XP on my home comp, laptop and netbook....seriously considering Mac for next era...

I am talking about the standard format with the installation disk. You can format the drive but when you go to install windows 7 you will get that error allot of times unless you have an older machine.

don't give the job destroyers anymore money!

Windows 8 is atrocious. It's probably great for a tablet, but I use it on a laptop and I cannot navigate it at all. You have memorize all kinds of shortcuts to do simple things, and trying to get through many simple tasks is impossible without a guide.

I run 3 screens at work so thats where windows 8 would come in very handy due to the tool bar expanding across multiple screens and allowing them to be minimize in that screens tool bar not the main bar. They just pushed a horrible desk top environment and put the actual desk top environment as a secondary where you have to get 3rd party software to fix it. When I ran it as a beta tester for our work i disabled metro period and ran Pokki which i think its the best alternative and like the interface it provides.

Also if you have EFI firmware Windows 8 will outperform windows 7 as well. They did gut allot of resource hog feature like aero and defender that would suck up your memory. The boot time is also much improved. I still like 7 though, but as an IT if i stick with 7 and never get fully adjusted to 8 then I will be greatly behind the curve. I just hope they release there SP1 and redesign every thing. Just like they did with XP in SP2 the features that were released in XP SP2 could have been an entirely new OS the amount of internal shit they changed.

Windows 8 it's nothing more than MS making money on a new OS that isn't even needed in reality. in the 90s computers reached the point where their abilities are far beyond that which is needed by the majority of end users. it's nothing more now than just bells and whistles. the days of hardware like the PCI bus being the bottleneck, etc. are gone forever that will now always be on the EU side.
