Windows Vista

Give it time. :)

Haha, honestly, I am outside the box, so I dont know nor have the capability to judge. I am just going by what others have said and some have actually had time spent on both systems.

Its like comparing a PS3 vs. XBOX 360. If you played both, youll know whats good and bad..and for someone like me, I like reading every piece of data that confirms either judgement.

Vista was built on TOP of XP, it was not built from the ground up. So if you don't think it sucks you know nothing about computers.

You are a moron. Please stop posting.

I am a computer science person. I have used Microsoft products for over 15 years. I have used every Microsoft OS since dos 5.0. I know computers like the back of my hand, so I can tell you with 100% certainty that Vista is a total piece of shit.

what do you do for a living?

No, you can tell me that in your opinion it's a piece of shit.

I just think a blanket statement like if I don't hate Vista then I know nothing about computers is idiotic.

I'm not here to defend anything, I just don't think it's nearly as bad as people make it out to be...and yes I have my computer science degree as well.

We all have different needs from our comps. The bitch brother K has is the same one I have and the same one that a billion other non-vista fans have. For users like us vista blows donkeys for quarters. Brother K has spent enough on microsux software to buy that bike he wants ... albeit slightly used still one with low mileage that's plenty sweet enough to give him a woody every time he hits 10g's on the tach. Did microsux take us into account when they built this os then required computer manufactures to use it instead of the tried and almost true xp? Nope. They made a lame and useless farce that is supposed to work but doesn't and left him out in the cold with a pile of software and no solutions ... workable ones for the right here and now. That blows donkeys for quarters ... and anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot. You can't sell me $6k worth of shit, then make it obsolete so you can sell me its replacement and think I won't notice you're trying to screw me.

Yes it has nice built in gadgets and yes vista is a very attractive os; however, at this stage of the game substance beats symbolism every time.

I restore antiques and deliver furniture for an antique dealer 5 days a week, and I am building an online inventory database system and website for a client to sell his collection of rare books.

Uh-oh, KelJu must be "awake" on his Ambien again. He's (sort of) talking to himself. :(

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
That just makes me want to take Ambien to see what happens.

Lawl, I don't know how that happened.

ok, but that does not make you an industry professional, I have been working in IT for almost 12 years now, currently I am an IT consultant specializing in small business networks.

I've been at it for about a decade. So far, none of my clients, or the clients of people that I know in the field, want anything to do with Vista.

Well all agree that Vista isn't that buggy, but it brings nothing to the table for businesses.

agreed, I would not advise a client to go to Vista at this point.

as I said the main reason I am using it because it came pre-loaded on my new machines, and I figure I will need to know it in the near future.

I just disagree that it is a bad OS, I have had zero problems except one incompatibility with a program I use, but it's not a mainstream application.

Quick off topic question:

It's understandable if you don't want to answer this, but I figured I'd ask. From your experience, how much would a good IT consultant make per year on average, and what kind of things would you recommend to know for going into small business consulting? I'm definitely going into network administration or network consultation, I'm just not entirely deadset on where to go yet.

Also, how much of a value do your customers place on certs like the CCNA, CCSP, CCNP, etc...?

Agreed on that - I'm looking at this sort of how I was looking at Windows XP when I was still using ME. Massive upgrade, tons of advantages, etc. Vista doesn't offer any of those advantages over XP, and I see more disadvantages right now by moving to it.

If I want to learn Vista, I'll just load it up into VMWare and play around with it, but it's not touching any of my comps as a standalone OS.

agreed. Mine wasn't preloaded, but I only have it on one of my home PCs. I actually do like it.

The new media center UI is pretty cool.

I never get a new windows OS until the rest of it's free-debuggers find most of the problems.....If I wanted to play around and troubleshoot issues I'd get Linux and fool around, at least with that I know I can find someone online who could help or even find a free driver that someone has written themselves...

I cannot answer this because there are way too many variables at hand.

if you want to be a networking consultant get your MSCE and CCNA certs and you should be good to go, but it will still require experience before you make good $.

Ok, just makes me want to get those certs then. Was sort of on the edge on whether I needed them or not, but I think by the end of my senior year I can nail the CCNA,CCNP, and maybe the CCSP.

Yea I'll start working on all of that Sunday after I move into my new place. Right now I have to listen to my current roommate play WoW every waking second in my room, so studying is nearly impossible for me right now since all my books are e-books on my comp.

the majority of small businesses have a Windows network, so you should know Windows server admin as well.

No one is going to go easy on you until you declare that Vista killed your children and that you're going to avenge them.

You probably know more than me. You have created the coolest website on earth. I have nothing but respect for your abilities, but don't talk down to me just because I haven't been in the industry long. You can't possibly know how much or how little I know.
