Abs are the most resistant to training of any muscle group. I do 3 sets of leg raises and crunches everyday. I think as long as you don't go crazy with it, you'll be cool.:thumb:

thanx it really helps

damn what would i do without this place

thanx again

People often ask how often should you work your abs. Well, remember that the abdominals are a muscle and they require recovery just like any other muscle, although they do recover relatively quickly compared to other muscles due to their inherent fiber type. If you???re training your abs from an injury prevention perspective then you could train them 3-4 days per week using light loads, e.g. non-weighted crunches, performing 3-4 sets. However, if your goal is to develop your abs either for bodybuilding or sport performance, then you should only train them 2-3 days per week using more advanced techniques, e.g. weighted incline crunches performing 6-8 sets.

wow thats a lot of abs training! everyday?? :wtf:

try doing crunches on an exercise ball, just 3 sets of 30-40 (or as many as you can get out) and tell me you can work abs again for the rest of that week! sometimes i'll be sore for 3-4 days after this, if you hit em hard i'd say 2 a week is plenty, obviously if you using little or no resistance then you can hit em more frequent... but what is the point, if you want em to grow you gotta hit em hard, if you want em to rip up that comes from diet and cardio so doing abs everyday is pointless IMO

i do abs twice a week 5 sets of 15 reps on thera crunch which does both ways of doing abs in one with weighted resistance of 7.5kg for first 3 sets and 10kg's on last 2 sets i think 10kgs is about 25lb

Duncan Donuts taught me that if you do weighted work with your abs, there is no need to work them more than any other muscle group. Haven't looked back and he was right.

i love doing abs untill the last set and last few reps where they feel like their gunna tear open lol

I work my abs directly twice per week. I do 3 sets each session. The rectus abdominus is capable of contracting from top to bottom, and from bottom to top. The two movements I choose for the week usually don't cause the abs to contract in the same way.
