Working with a Partner

I just started working with a partner because I felt working alone (Bench Press, dumbell Presses) I couldnt really get 100 percent or even 90 out of me because that one extra rep I didnt have a spotter. So I started with a partner but I feel that the break in between sets is hurting me. I a newbster so is it just mental or taking a 2-3 min break in between sets really does hurt muscle growth. ANy help would be awesome.

It all depends on your training. If it's HIT (High intensity) then you will be taking shorter breaks between sets.

For myself I train to failure with low volime and take 3-4 min's between ea set. I need this amount of time on the big lifts to get my reps in when I add weight going to the next set. Some of the smaller muscles i work, i have found that i only need x # of min's or seconds to perform the next lift. I guess I go by feel. If i'm ready i go for it. But big lifts to failure can be very taxing and addditional time between sets may be needed. At least for this old fart.
 
a good workout partner is worth their weight in gold.....
