So just focus on the body fat percentages? What % is good to lose per week?
 
just focus on exercising and go by how you look and feel. take measurments of your waist arms and legs and do that at the same time once a week (ie every sat. morning on an empty stomach). Don't worry about what % you loose each week, just change your lifestyle and the results will be desierable. It would take a few lbs to drop a percentage point. Generally you don't want to loose more than 1lb per week.
 
It varies, but remember: the faster you lose fat the more muscle you will lose.
 
1 lb per week equals a caloric deficit of 3500 over 7 days...Very doable , especially with the help of cardio and lifting...
 
The problem with that is that I'm so OCD that I feel like I need to have some sort of measurement of my progress to keep me motivated. A measure more tangible than just how I feel. An actual log that I can watch #'s go down on, ya know? I told you I'm OCD. :p

In reality, its HARD for a chubby chick to stay motivated to stay away from bad foods & to keep exercising without seeing results. I don't think I'm all out FAT. (I'm a size 12.) I just wanna get rid of the belly!

a calorie is not a calorie
a lb is not always a lb of fat.

don't look at it like that.

what something to measure by....measure your waist at your belly button. take your BF% and then take it again in three weeks and then again in another 3 weeks. I doubt you are 43%. that would be insane!
 
Just do what P-Funk said and take measurements once a week. Get your fat* measured evey two weeks.


* On a side note, I would've never said this in a fact-to-face encounter with a woman. :)
 
That's what velveteyes on here said! 43% is outrageous! Its got me feeling pretty hefty, thats for sure! LOL.


OK! I can DEFINITELY use my waist measurement as a progress log! That's good stuff!

Most public gyms will do it for free. If you workout at a gym (I don't) they will do it for you. If not, just go to the closest, nice, gym and ask very nicely and be appreciative of their services.
 
I'm gonna buy some calipers. Any suggestions? I'd like digital ones b/c they seem to provide less room for error, but $50?!?! Where can I get some CHEAP digital calipers? :confused:
 
are you sure you can't get it done at your gym? the calipers are only as good as the person taking the measurements so it would be good to have a trained person do the measuring for you.
 
I have a membership at Bally's, but I don't think I could stand a stranger pinching my fat all over. :mad:

it is a really simple thing.
 
not bad but how can you pinch all 7 sites yourself???? you wont be able to reach your kidneys and subscapularis.
 
I dunno, it said only 3 sites. *sigh* I will TRY to suck it up & let some stranger pinch me. :pissed:
 
3 site isn't as accurate as 7.

also, for 3 site ou will ahve to pinch your tricep and hold it while you clip it with the caliper. Pretty tough to do with one hand.
 
IMMSHHOO that seems like alot of cardio.
