World of Warcraft

Would I rather do that all day and night instead of working or doing anything else for that matter? Hell yeah! But that's just not an option.

When money is tight, your friends dont want to come out, or you dont want to get suckered into drinking, video games are great.

I remember telling people that dont play games, that games can SAVE you money.

Ive been playing Team Fortress Classic again (first person shooter adapted from Half Life). I went ahead and just got it from the net for $9.95 downloaded. The servers are free. Most of the players are bots, but its good practice. Bots never miss. :nail:

TFC was incredible. That was the greatest fps ever. How come most players are bots? Seems like people would still be playing it, especially with HalfLife 2 having come out

Some people are still on there. In fact, some servers are VBots vs. Players. Pretty good shit considering the fucking computer NEVER misses.

I play it every night. In fact this saturday night (tonight) I will be on. My name on there is RAIN. And I play the cheesiest player.

SNIPER

Counter-Strike is where it's at for FPS.

No good MMORPGs out right now, but WoW will suffice in the meantime.

Denial is the first sign of addiction.

:nail:

Actually, I'm not at all. Because of my busy schedule, I may play 2-5 hours during the week, and maybe 3-6 hours on the weekend unless I am out of town visiting friends and family.

I wanted to put more time in on it, but it's not as good as I thought it would be. I find myself signing on and just staring at the screen for 15 minutes, then I do a quest, then I'm bored and I make something to eat.

.

A lot of people say that, but I disagree.

Does the game still work as though....if you die, you cant respawn until the team wins/loses whatever task is at hand?

I like Team Fortress Classic cuz of the simple classes. Each one has their own unique ability and if you suck at one, you cant respawn into a different character instantly.

One thing I am not liking is the fact that bots can tell if a Spy is a Spy, instead of one of their own. That totally defeats the purpose of being a Spy.

Thats how CoV/CoH was to me. I was hooked for the first month. Then it just became a lil boring. Not boring, but there was enough to keep my motivated to sit for so long. OR. Id be distracted from the real world.. I dont know.

Yes Counter-Strike is still die and wait for your team to win/lose.

The reason I say it was one of the best games is that is was very skill based, but not entirely skill based. I liked the mental aspects of the game where you could trick people into thinking you are somewhere you're not, or figuring out where a player has gone or been based on marks or weapons left on the floor or walls.

I was super addicted to those types of games for a long time, though I haven't played in about 1.5 years now. Don't judge it based on public games either, those are way too easy. The fun came from out-playing and out-thinking higher level teams in private leagues.

Oh you took it on a whole new level.

I am impatient with all games. I want to be thrown right in, like a movie. Unless I am playing an RPG (which are notoriously slow at first), all games should be fast from teh get go. F.E.A.R., God of War, Halo, etc.

The waiting to respawn shit is the only thing that completley ruins it for me. I want to get back into the action. Its like playing a strategy based game like Warcraft III or Starcraft on multiplayer. When you end up losing the battle, why stay logged into the game to watch your base burn? You lost, move on, find another player.

Yup, it's a personality thing. When I take on a hobby, I want to be the best at whatever I decide to take up. Whether that is learning to program, working out, racquetball, or video games, I will always seek to be the best with single-minded purpose.

That's why I'm so easily addicted to these type of games, and that's why I try to avoid playing them very much. Once I get into them as a true hobby, I will go after being the best in the game with such monomania that other areas in my life often suffer.

It happened with Rainbow Six, it happened with Counterstrike, Ultima Online, and most recently WoW. You can see why I have to not play games very much ;)

I stopped playing online games because of all the damn "l33ts" who downloaded their skills.

There are communities online where cheating is near impossible - I know, I helped to run the premier one for a while. I had to make a choice between that and not being a fat fuck though, and I don't regret my choice for a second :D

Awww the medical community needs all the fat fucks they can get their collective hands on ... :) ... you were serving a purpose and shit. Now your just a healthy assed guy with the need of their "help".

I play WoW, have been for a couple months, yet am not addicted.

Everyone is wired different. I have done almost every illegal drug that exist and could stop whenever I wanted, but WoW owned my life.

Holy shit, that guy sounds juts like me when I was playing. I showed that to my buddy Clint who was living on my couch when I was playing WoW, and the first thing he said was "Dude when did you join Cannibal Corpse". The guy even looks like me when I was playing.

whoa. just... whoa. that's scary, it really is. If that's not someone addicted to something I just don't know what is. I wanna find a video of someone addicted to something and then compare it to that video. A tow truck couldn't get him away from the topic. And then the poor interviewer clearly had no idea what he's talking about, he must have just been freaked out "What the fuck is this guy saying?" I, sadly, knew the terms that he was saying but I could step myself back enough to wonder what that must sound like to someone who's never played, but it's equally as crazy to someone who does know.

I can, at least, say that I've never been that far down the well

For the record, I think battlefield 2142 is a great team based shooter, for those who are interested in being a lone wolf and doing their own thing, the option exists, and can be profitable.

For those that wish to play as a team, and succeed as a part of a greater unit, the option exists. the combat is fast paced, often frantic, and very based on strategy, but also quick thinking. skill is very important, as are upgrades (which stay with your character). so, it has parts of the best aspects of my favorite genres.

you're all wrong. Mass Effect beats all of 'em! Screw online play, other people just piss you off. Or there is, of course, Team Fortress 2. Can't go wrong either way.

That Cannibal Corpse guy is hilariously pathetic, he could be tagging groupies but instead he probably heads straight back to the hotel after a show to play some WOW....I sure hope he at least gets groupie blow jobs while slaying some of those emo fag night elves although that may be too distracting for someone that intense about the game....

I doubt the cannibal corpse groupies are that hot.

I still havent gotten around to trying TFC2. Is it that much of an upgrade than its predecessor? Meaning, do I have to go get a new computer?
