The guys that are doing ultra-heavy deads though seem to say that there is a limit to grip strength, and thier numbes are higher with straps. I can believe that, I think, those guys lift enough that thier hands bleed sometimes.
I figure at the least, its less energy used and less bodyparts being strained, making it at least mentally easier on you.
Since you brought it up...
The leather straps I ditched bc/ they felt like it was cutting circulation off! (for me)
The ones with the hooks I didn't like because I was shrugging 405 lbs and when I hit failure, it felt like the hooks were failing!
I guess that's why I think I'm going to practice more strength grips in my forearms etc.... Also, I still love my standard wraps!
