basically guys ive hurt my right front delt head and im worried its really bad. was doing wg pullovers when i did it. cant do alot of movements. i dont know what im looking for re assurance or some tips for recovery maybe

heres a few questions i keep getting asked

When did it occur?
id say about a month and a half to about 2 months

Did u feel anything when it happened (was it sudden or gradual)?
when i drop the weight it was a sudden surge of pain

What movements hurt most?
over head movements more specifically millitary press when the bar is on my chest(strangely the arnold press doesnt) wg pullover (which was the movement i hurt it on), tricep extension movements and reverse peck deck.

Is there a decrease in strength?
kind of half and half obviously the pain stops me from putting in the maximum effort

Any numbess into the arms or hands?
no none at all

hope that helps thanks again

Make sure that the orthopedic specialist that you see takes x-rays.

x rays ?

i got a gp app on thursday

i seen my gp today and had accupunture (dont know about the spelling) done on my shoulder. felt ok after its till sore but she wants to do it for the next 4 weeks

GPs are great if you have a sore throat. I wouldn't go to one if I had a sports type of injury. Their advice is usually to stop lifting weights.

Hello? Wake up Patrick. NDs, not MDs, do accupuncture therapy on their patients (with a single notable exception of one that you and I both know from M2). I don't think this is your typical general practitioner.

Keep up with these treatments Richie. Find and use Traumeel cream on your injured shoulder(s) twice a day. The combo will work wonders. Find and buy glucosamine HCL from a local Walmart or drug store chain. Do NOT use the sulfate form, nor one combined with MSM. Take this supplement twice a day, morning and night, with complete whey (not pure isolate, you need some whey concentrate as well). This should help your connective tissue recovery pick up its pace to further promote healing.

You will need advice on rehab exercises. This is probably the single-most common injury type described on this forum (and other similar forums).

You can do some reading here on the rehab exercises. You might also ask your physician about them as well.

thaks guys

im getting the accupuncture once a week for the next 4 weeks

oh, I thought he was talking about a regular general familiy practitioner.

I have never tried accupuncture, although I have heard some good things about it and would not be opposed to it.

feeling sore....I usually can train through mild soreness. If I am excessively sore, then I really need to look at my training program and make sure i didn't push to much and over train, and I will skip that day. A little soreness though, if you train and let your body adapt to a greater work load, you will eventually not have the soreness.

That said, if you have a shoulder problem I don't think you should push it with the soreness. What are you doing for your shoulder right now? Are you sure you should even be doing anything with it at the moment?

im not mate thats why im asking? should i be builing up though light weights for the time being ?

that question would be impossible for me to answer since i have no idea WHAT is wrong with your shoulder.

I am not your doctor and I have not tested you to see what is the problem and what the possible contraindications are as far as exercise and the problem that you have.

That is something you need to sit down and discuss with your doctor and/or a physical therapist. No one on an internet board can really tell you what you should be doing if they don't know what is wrong.
