X sets of X or pyramid or reverse pyramid

What are the advantages/disadvantages by using for example 5 sets of 5 on a compound movement as opossed to a pyramid or a reverse pyramid. What would be the best for pure strength?
 
I don't fully understand what your ? is but when training 4 strength usually rest time is more important than pyramids, unless maybe you are using it to break through a plateau.
 
5x5 is good for strength but you still pyramid up to it in most cases eg:

5x 305

5 x 320

5x 350

5x max

5 x max

try a 5x5 routine for a while it can make a huge difference to your bench if you're tired of a rep scheme such as:

12,10,8,6,4
