I was thinking about doing some Yoga with some of the girls I work with (yes I know it sounds a little queer to some people...including myself) and was wondering what effects it would have on strength training.

I am curious because the last few years I have developed quite the stiffness in my whole body, mainly back and legs, and would like to become more flexible. I understand yoga to be quite the workout because of all the balancing you do and holding yourself up in weird positions, which would incorporate muscles I don't normally use in my workout.

Do any of you do yoga or know what kind of cautions I would need to take?
I don't want to over train or diminish any strength gains I am finally making.

Yoga and strength training is a great combination...
Did it all the time when I lived in Chicago.......now in AZ I'm thinking of doing it again.

IM also thinking about taking yoga, I was talking to shae the other night about it, check her journal out, its sweet!

yoga is the McShit. dont let some asshole tell you its for queers and steers only.
swimming is good too.

I dont know the answer to your question but I go to you 3x a week and there are a TON of Bodybuilder guys in there. Dont let anyone fool you its not as easy or sissy as it appears (you will be surprised.)
Your question - I think it depends on what kind of yoga it is. If its power yoga- Id watch your cardio during the week and heck I dunno about the weights because my WHOLE upper body hurts like SH$T right now all because of yoga.

A lot of NFL players are doing it. Excellent strength and conditioning.

yoga is great.

Since everyone is in agreement that Yoga is a good idea, I guess I will have to do it. :thumb:
