Hey guys, I was just curious about what you like to do for cardio? There are many different things you can do, so what is everyones' preference? I used to just run, but this summer I'm probably gonna go on a cut and want some new ideas I guess. Thanks bros and bro-ettes! :D :thumb:

I like the Precor, I think its Elliptical. I use to run but with my old age it felt like it was bothering my knees and my shins. The Precor doesn't at all. :)

I hate it but it works so I've been doing it more lately - Stairclimber.

I agree Jodi....the Precor Elliptical is great too.

Nothing beats running too...assuming your body can handle it! Or if you're not too old....like Jodi:)

Under the strict recommendation(s) of w8,DP, et al, I have been advised to cease and disist all cardio activity, as this will transform my current 36 year old, semi-muscular, good ol' boy physique into that of a well conditioned twenty year old male stripper with a higher sperm count.
:hehe:

Well I was thinking of you today Freeman at the gym. I had to do a 20 min. HIIT so I decided to run today. LOL! This old body handled it. I haven't ran in a long time

The most fun cardio I do is when I???m in one of my MA classes sparring or something like that. I hate long distance running but I like sprints, short and lots of power. Long distance running is just too boring???

In order of "like" :

Kickboxing
Running the stairs (not on a machine)
Sprints (not on a treadmill)
Skipping
Elliptical
Rowing machine

I like the outdoors, so in order of preference:

challenging hiking(the trail we do goes from sea level to 700' three times)
outdoor 6am bootcamp classes-i go 3x week in the spring/summer and these classes are TOUGH
snowshoeing
step classes
running
kickboxing

And stair climbing and elliptical are okay.

I know a couple of guys that when they do cardio, it usually just consists of walking on a treadmill with an incline to it for like 30-40 minutes...is that effective at all?

from the little ive read about HIIT vs. other types of cardio, the cardio those two guys at the gym are doing appears to be the least effective. theyd get more of a result from just 10 minutes of HIIT probably.

Can be, depends on pace and incline...and more importantly Heartrate! :D

Thats an easy Question,,, MOUNTAIN BIKING!!!! When the weather is bad like at this very MOMENT (MAJOR SNOW STORM HERE),, I use my stationary bike. Due to an old back injury, I can't do any sort of running or treadmills. It plays havoc on my lower back.

Being a martial artist for over 30 years and Instructor,, I'd love to spar you some time Tigress!!!!

What is your discipline? I studied Uechi-ryu for quite a few years, and also some Tsuroka do(like shotokan) for a bit. My "stand up" sparring is pretty good, but if you're a grappler I am probably done for. :p

1. Padwork
2. Skipping rope :thumb:
3. Running Stadium stairs :rocker:
4. Running hills
5. Sprints

I can't stand, excersise bikes, treadmills, etc. I don't know how people don't go insane from boredom on those things.
