Iv lifted on and off for 2 years and consistantly for the past 6 months im 18 and Im lifting/cardio five days a week. i have a pretty good diet, and a good workout program. but would like to enhance my gains.

im looking at taking:
  • 100% Whey protien
  • creatine monohydrate
  • multi-vitamins
  • fish oil

any suggestions on something to add? something to remove?

also any recomendations on what i should take pre-workout/post-workout?

any help would be greatly appriciated.

Well, those are all very good choices.

What are your goals?

you dont really need these things at your age, but if you really want to:

creatine (and glutamine if you have it), 5g pre workout and 5g post workout
protien shake immediatly after workout
multi in the morning with breakfast
fish oil spread throughout the day

im assuming your trying to gain strength and add muscle.

and yea im trying to gain strength while staying cut, along with about 3/4ths of americans :D

should i add BCAA's?

thank you for the help

I think you should go with that, looks like a great stack. Do the creatine 5g. post-workout.

I'd do something like this for the workout window:
120 min. pre-workout:
-Meal rich in complex carbohydrates (ex: sweet potato, yam, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread, long grain rice, etc.),
-Moderate in healthy fats (ex: natural peanut butter, almond butter, nuts, cashew butter, avocodo, fish, flax oil, EVOO, etc.),
-Lean protein source (ex: fish, chicken, turkey, ground sirloin, steak, etc.).

Immediately post-workout: 20-45g. Whey Protein, water or low fat milk, 1 cup oats

60-90 min. post-workout: Same as pre-workout meal

Let me know if you have any questions man, and good luck!

Agree with all except the glutamine. Waste of money IMO. The rest are all excellent suggestions.

Are you looking to gain weight, or not? Just so we're clear.

BCAAs - not necessary unless you're deep into a cut. Plenty of those in whey protein for example.

To the OP - are you looking to gain weight, lose weight, recompose at the same weight? It's important to know so you can tailor your approach.

Cool. Go with amino's suggestions. When you stop gaining, bump up the calories a bit.

your a similar age to myself bro, and the thing i found that helps the most is sleep.

i know that sounds like a really obivious thing to say, but most guys our age dont need a whole lot of sleep to function every day, but you do need a lot to build muscle. make sure your getting a good 9 hours a night where possible.

i also found that my body can adapt to a routine in as little as 2-3 weeks, so keep changing things up. vary your reps, weights, even the day you do that specific workout to keep things moving in the right direction
