Ok, heres the deal. I played football for the first time in 15 years on Friday the 20th. I went all out, stretched before and after the game, yet for the following 3 days I could barely walk. Every part of my body was sore except for my pecs and triceps. My hamstrings were so bad off, that even today I can feel that they are extremely tight.

Now the problem lies in the gym when I do my back workout. I always do pull-ups as my first exercise. And I always can do 6-7 pull-ups with no weight assist for my last set. The last two times I have done my back workout, I can't seem to do anything close to the amount of work as before. The first time I did pull-ups after the football game, I could not do a single pull-up without weight assist. The second time I could only do two.

THis is the only exercise that I feel has dramatically decreased in strength. And I can only attribute that to the condition of my hamstrings and groin area (being it as the only variable that changed in my workout the last year).

So does that make any sense? Why would I lose so much pull strength due to tight hamstrings?

Some kind of neural issue? Perhaps you were still recovering when you came back the first time, and the second time you psyched yourself out? That's a strange one; I would like to hear some thoughts on this...

I think you are neurologically burnt out. Does it feel like exhaustion?

That's all I can think of... you must still be exhausted, as crazy as that sounds... Sounds like you played a helluva game!

I don't know if it could be considered exhaustion in medical terms. Even though I slept 12 hours the night after the game. :D The weird thing about it was that I had worked out my chest a couple of days before I did the back workout and everything was normal (in terms of strength). Like I said before, I have worked out several times now, yet the only exercise that I really suffer on is pull-ups. My hamstrings were so tight and sore that I could feel a pull on my lower back on lats right before doing the pull-ups. Basically during the starting position I could feel a different strain on my back and legs. Then of course the lack of strength that followed. I rested today and will try a back workout tomorrow and see how it goes.

I did have two interceptions. :D Although I should of had 6. The younger version of me had great hands, but even now that they are bigger today, they seem to be coated with butter. :hmmm:
