Gun-carry law hasn't produced more crime

Irrelevant to what I said.

Incorrect, you just don't know enough about the topic to comment on it.

Besides, The Swiss, New Zealanders and Finns all have better secured countries than the USA.

What do you mean by "secure" and what part of "When one studies all countries rather than just a select few as is usually done, there is absolutely no relationship between gun ownership and murder" didn't you understand?

Anyway, guns aren't violent by nature.

First correct thing you have said so far.

The American culture is.

American culture very much factors in but data shows gun ownership does not correlate to murder rates for example (see posted article again) and every country that recently attempted to ban hanguns saw an INCREASE in crime rates, not a drop. In all states that passed CCW laws in the US, crime went down, or did not change (depending on which astudy you look at) etc, etc as already explained/covered, which does not even begin to mention issues of US Const/Second Amend issues, human rights issues, history, etc., or as James Madison said

"Oppressors can tyrannize only when they can achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace."

There are larger issues at stake, larger than you and I, which were considered by men far smarter than you or I.

Secure There you go.

Instead of jumping on the American Patriot bandwagon and starting to act all defensively, you might want to read my posts again.

You're talking about the relation between gun licensing and crime. I'm talking about the violent nature of American culture and the safety of nations. Securing a nation by making guns unobtainable without proper licensing will reduce crime. Simpy illegalizing the guns does not make them unobtainable.

Anyway, I'm not going to discuss this further. It's as boring as the thread about gay parades.

Aint nobody takin my guns... lessen you want some of em!?!

Secure There you go.

And you actually think that some how answers the question?

Instead of jumping on the American Patriot bandwagon and starting to act all defensively, you might want to read my posts again.

The only "bandwagon" I have have ever jumped on is one of data, facts, and following history. Try it some time. Yes, when I see ignorant comments based on no research or knowledge of the topic as you made, I can get defensive. Guilty as charged there.

You're talking about the relation between gun licensing and crime.

No, I was talking about the rates of gun ownership and crime. Licensing is a different issue and different countries deal with that in different ways.

I'm talking about the violent nature of American culture and the safety of nations.

And I said that was correct: cultural differences, and other factors, not guns, account for differences between countries.

Securing a nation by making guns unobtainable without proper licensing will reduce crime.

No, it *may* reduce GUN crime. It does not affect overall crime. People like you focus so hard on the tool used, you fail to actually focus on what matters: crime. Crime rates went up in the UK when they recentyly tried to ban handguns (and gun crime also went up, but never mind that....) and knives are the weapon of choice in the highest crime counry in the western world. keeping guns out of the hands of criminals is the goal of any society that cares about crime, but if that menas depriving law abiding people their right to self defense, it's worthless; all that they have done to date is pass laws that take guns from law abiding people which has resulted in higher crime rates.

Simpy illegalizing the guns does not make them unobtainable.

Exactly, and amazing as it may seem to some, crimials dont follow laws:

"Gun control? It's the best thing you can do for crooks and gangsters. I want you to have nothing. If I'm a bad guy, I'm always gonna have a gun. Safety locks? You'll pull the trigger with a lock on, and I'll pull the trigger. We'll see who wins." -- Sammy "The Bull" Gravano, Mafia hit man

"Any nation that would sacrifice a little liberty in order to gain a little security gains neither and loses both".

Ben Franklin ...

"an armed society is a polite society"

Where in the hell did this come from?

Any time you use the facts and data to support your position in the gun debate, you get called "conservative" or a "gun nut" and the ever popular "blind American Patriot" type comments. You know they have lost the debate and start with the emotional responses when they can't respond with facts, but as my old proff use to say "emotions can never alter facts, but facts can alter emotions." :thumb:

To be fair, I often have facts pertaining to the argument, but I can't help but use a little vitriol, anyway.

No doubt it's very hard to resist in the face of such ignorance. and I have been known to call a few people an f-ing a-hole myself....:paddle:

I have Utah, FL, NV, ME, NH, and MA, my primary state.

What state allow the most freedoms with guns?

Have you seen the 20/20 report on gun control and its effects on crime rates? See:

YouTube Video

A good one to pass around when people start throwing around ignorant statements.
The single most profound and statement in that clip: "The first line of defense is you". Gun control proponents refuse the concept that we as Americans have that responsibility, but instead insist that protection is best left up to government agencies.

911 = dial a prayer...

That clip was awesome!

Awesome video. Those of us who have chosen to arm ourselves for physical protection should also arm ourselves with the knowledge and facts to defend our right to carry. I need to rip this video so I have it stored on my computer.

^ wow, that is ridiculous, what were the police thinking? People with guns will turn to criminals when natural disasters occur? They were in a perfect situation in which to have weapons.
