There are several theories on why Watterson stopped drawing C & H.
This here was supposedly his last cartoon.

for some reason this reminds me of the ending to Fahrenheit 451

I can never understand why people with such wonderful creative minds feel the need to become Hermits. Salinger and Waterson just must've never grew up, maybe thats why they wrote children so well? I just feel artists should allow a little more to be known about them and their minds than just their art it's self, let other artists know what drove you where your inspiration came from don't hide it away....

aw, this one's sad

I used to be a huge C&H fan. This totally makes me want to buy the collection now. I used to have every volume
I had a $40 overdue fine from the school library because I hid 2 of the books under my mattress for the times when I'd be grounded to my room for a week and my dad would only allow me to have encyclopedias to read.....

I know, they say this is not done by Watterson.

I have a couple of books of C&H.

Calvin and Hobbs was my favorite. All of these are sad... :(
