Do you like firefox 3?

I think it blows goats as of now. It crashes constantly, and this is on a brand spanking new installation of XP Pro. It crashes a lot on my laptop, also. I might roll back or switch to IE.

yeah, it does seem to crash every now and then, but not often for me, although I am using Vista Ultimate, not sure if that is what they optimized it for?

Now that you mention it, I haven't hat Firefox 3 crash once on our work PC which is also running vista Ultimate.

I need to look into this a little more.

IE doesn't have the memory leaks and overhead that firefox does. When I start opening lots of tabs and downloading lots of stuff, firefox lags like a bitch. IE never lagged for me. IE has major security problems and a few other glitches, but I can still push IE a lot harder than FF.

I got 4 GB and with a duel-core chip and I have driven Firefox into the ground.

Maybe I should say that I am the type of person that will have 8 - 10 firefox windows open with each window containing about 15 tabs. I switch back from one to the other and read one while the other loads. Firefox has had major problems fixing their memory leak problems

When I run it hard Firefox sometimes takes 5-10 seconds to respond to my request. For some reason IE never had that problem.

I like to run two windows on left and right monitors with maybe an extra tab on both. On the center monitor I watch recorded TV or a movie. I do this all the time with no trouble on a single core. Life is good. I'd upgrade but nothing is broke.

I took all that time to download and set it up with all the best addons, and now I need to remove it and downgrade to ff2.

Even though I've used Firefox for quite some time now, it gets on my nerves with the way it just lags in loading requests for anything. IE loads things without a problem, Firefox just likes to take its sweet time.

Safari is nice but isn't all that common in web browsing, plus I think it still has problems, yet it seems fast enough to use. I like Opera as well, you can set several home pages, or "quick dial" tabs and go to any site you want quickly.

However, no web browser is perfect or safe from anything. There will always be a flaw somewhere.

i haven't had any issues with it. takes a few seconds for a page to load sometimes but nothing serious. opera is good too.

I take it you are a premium member. Whenever I've used it, it limits how much I can download, and it never lets me download multiple files simutaneously. This is why I prefer torrents.

How's the offer? Can you download new and old DVD-rips at full speed?

I use FF3 on Ubuntu with no problems. It's very responsive.

If you're still having memory and rendering issues, I suggest that one of your plug-ins is the culprit.

For example, if you're using the Ad Block Plus Updater G add-on, it'll slow down the rendering time. Remove the Ad Block Plus and the Updater. Then reinstall Ad Block Plus without the updater. The first time you fire up the plug-in it'll ask you to subscribe to a block list (thus negating the need for the Updater). Choose the first option, EasyList I think.

Even if you're not using the Updater, one of other plug-ins that you're using may be causing the problem.

Lastly, you might want to consider using the Tweak Network add-on. It allows you to open multiple connections to a server to download the pages faster. You should only do this on a fast computer. Oh, and don't use the Faster Fox plug-in. That plug-in puts the beat down on servers by prefetching the pages for every link on the page you're viewing. It wastes a lot of the resources of the site that you're visiting.

You should install Foxmarks. I use it to synchronize my bookmarks between my home and office computers. It also allows me to access my bookmarks from any PC on the Internet. Plus it works as a handy backup.

Firefox 3.0.1 is what I have, I agree it seemed after the .1 update came down FF was more stable. I cannot remember the last time FF crashed on me, it's been several days, and honestly I attributed it to the website I was on.
